ECP hears disqualification reference for Imran, Talal granted more time to submit evidence

ISLAMABAD: A four-member bench led by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan resumed hearing of a disqualification reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan.

During the proceedings, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Talal Chaudhry’s lawyer Akram Sheikh said that Imran Khan had not declared Niazi Services, his offshore company in his tax returns.

He requested that cases of Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen be combined together, to which the EC replied that Sheikh was just complicating things. The EC added that both parties were just interested in doing politics and that a reference and a petition cannot be heard jointly.

Sheikh asked the ECP time to submit additional evidence, which he was granted.

A lawyer representing PTI leader Jehangir Tareen said that the Election Commission of Pakistan could only give its judgement on issues pointed out in the reference which include only land of Bani Gala. He said that the issue of offshore company was being raised for no reason.

The hearing was adjourned till January 10.

Speaking to the media outside the ECP, PTI spokesperson Naeem-ul-Haque said that the government was adopting delaying tactics. “Two weeks ago the ECP had said that it will announce its verdict very soon, but now the government is just complicating things,” he said.

He said that PTI had come prepared but Akram Sheikh did not submit evidence today.

He said that Imran Khan's response to the allegations is so comprehensive that it would be very difficult to find any loopholes in it.

That's why PTI wants verdict, unlike PMLN that says "November bhi guzar gaya, December bhi guzar jaega" and "log panama ko bhool jaeingay".

U dnt understand the case . all the records have been given .

For a noon league small brain . I wouldn't simply it . imran said how he owns the house and provided record of all the money . in there documents he bought the house in name of company . the company was not declared .

Now where did they find these company ? It was given on proof imran khan showed on TV and submitted on his website .

Now Ayaz saqid passed this reference and stop reference against nawaz . there are using this tacnacality . EC is waiting for SC to start proceeding . if they are going against N . EC which is under NS will disqualify imran.

Do u ever wonder they said they will give verdict of imran case on 15 December but now changed it to 10th Jan .

i want to see the transactions . where he got 65 lacs from when he was not a tax payer at that time? nit was a token money paid by IK. Secondly i want to see the transactions of IK bank where money is transferred to Jemima Khans account . Is it public? moreover i want to see the bank statement of Niazi services limited which is closed in 2015.

i myself want to see the documents and transactions. I dont want to get into the legal details of the case , if IK can provide his transactions and bank accnt details , good for us. But if he wants to hide behind the legal complications , it is his choice.

He is not hiding behind any legal cover. The reply he has submitted is very clear and that's why PML N is requesting more time.

Anyway, I don't think IK will provide you with his documents, so it doesn't matter whether you want to see them or not.

I would suggest you focus on NS more than IK as NS's lawyer said in the court that 80 main tou parchion par kaam hota tha so they don't have any documents related to the transfer millions of dollars from one country to another country.
