Ofcourse it goes without saying that if the newly formed government struggles due to political instability the process may take longer. It is also possible that government may further extend the general elections by a year as provisioned by the constitution.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started preparations for the general elections 2023, ARY News reported on Friday, quoting sources.
As per details, the Election Commission has issued letters to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the Ministry of Housing and the Bureau of Statistics. The ministries have been urged to share the results of the seventh census held in the country by December 31, 2022.
Sources said that after the census, it is constitutionally mandatory to conduct new delimitations before the election as per new census results. After the delimitation, the voter lists will be reviewed.

Shortage of funds​

During a high-level session, the ECP officials expressed concerns over the shortage of funds that is hindering the organisation of local government (LG) elections in Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and Islamabad.
The commission is also facing a shortage of funds for holding general elections. The ECP officials said that important constitutional and legal tasks for the said elections are being affected due to the funds shortage.
The ECP spokesperson said that the hurdles created for LG polls are also tantamount to the violation of the Supreme Court (SC) orders. The commission decided to apprise the Supreme Court’s registrar regarding the situation.

Let the march arrives in the Islamabad and one will see how the elections are held in the next few months and how they will do the over time to hold the elections.
Some generals and this elections commission are the things of the past sooner they step out of the way better it is for all of us. They have done enough damage to this country and it can't be allowed to continue in the current state.
US am sure is pulling the strings to achieve her aims and they will not care a bit if our country gets into the civil war as they have done it before in different other countries. These few bad fish must be pushed out of the Pakistan so our country can get through these turbulent times. How low these few generals have to sink when they are sending people in the middle of the night to knock at the people doors or write sermons for the Friday prayers.
Might of the dollar is long gone and these few charlatans must know the cost of facing a nation. Insignificant Election commission is in no position in all this game other then be part of the dirty game.

What ground realities are you talking about? Inflation and lack of economic opportunities or ground realities of PTI enterprise facing the same music they played to others under guise of accountability?

If PMLn escaped accountability, is it not due to government? The prosecution prepared by PTI government was marred by technical loopholes by design. The only prosecution successfully made were against Hafez Saeed.

he is such apu$$y he doesnt want to admit he is working on it in case order comes for elections on short notice.

If these political parties are failing badly. In the near future establishment is worried about the role of religious parties in national politics. These 13 political parties are dying faster way before the expiration date..or PTI is coming out as a very strong national party. Or the establishment feels they are losing its grip in the future over the national politics chess board.

The establishment controls the foreign policy, defence, and most of all finances for defence budgets. With this comes perks and a status the military doesnt wsnt to lose including overseas protocol, properties etc

With an independent and uncorrupted leader and party with his own visions and incorruptible mindset, this is a direct affront to the military, and they get to lose a tremendous amount of influence. There are very few militaries in the world who have this power and political prestige

They would much rather work with the crooks because whilst they rob the country and absolutely corrupt, this gives the military leverage to do as it pleases.

My honest opinion was the military brought PTI initially and nurtured them as a 3rd political force to check the other 2 parties , this was a ploy to gain more leverage for themselves, playing each other off.

This has backfired terribly, as PTI has yurned into a frankenstein and looks unstoppable....
