Economic development vital to counter China: Gurcharan Das

Are you Chinese people,no,you are not.We are Chinese people.you are an Indian.of course we'll never forget that event, especially for we Beijingers.but what's there to forgive?

the west propaganda against China blatantly exaggerates the incident.1989 was a landmark year, after that we had a strong and very united government, soon after the incident came the full economic take off and China embarked a path to prosperity and all of that took China where she is now.We chose the right path, otherwise China would fall into total chaos and maybe the whole might break up like what happened in USSR.millions may perish if that happens.but look at China now.We are so happy that our government did the right thing in 1989.

Back in 89, I was cheering for the students as I was one myself here in America. Looking back at the past 23 years since then, its clear that China's leadership made the right choice. China's economy is growing leaps and bounds. Deng Xiaoping clearly knew what he was doing and he kept China from degenerated into chaos and ensure unprecedented prosperity. Sometimes, the situation at the time is not the indicator of what is the right choice. We need to look at it from the historical perspective.

Yes , CCP came out strong this was because they had crushed their opposition.

China started its rise in 1978 not in 1989, in fact its GDP fell for a year and reforms stopped for couple of yrs, but the impact was less than what it suffered during Asian financial crisis.

You are right on the chaos part though! but it wouldn't have broken up USSR , USSR was a group of countries which became totally independent after it collapsed.

However the Chinese would have suffered a lot if there was chaos and your govt did the right thing in restoring order, brought peace and stability at the cost of many life , it was warranted or else many more would have suffered.
