East Asian Fertility Crisis

1/4, that's definitely a huge group, I thought it's like 10% and even less.

Roman Catholics are the largest Christian Denomination in the United States; its the 4th largest Catholic nation in the world.

The United States' population is about 73% Christian. Of the some 73% Christians, about half of that belong to Protestant denominations such as:

United Methodist Church
Presbyterian Church
Anglican Church
Christian Orthodoxy
Baptist Churches
Evangelical Churches etc

.
Most Catholics in the US are Irish/Germans/Italians, they were well integrated into the US society, so their fertility rate shouldn't be any different from other white americans.

The hispanic, on the other hand, is another story.

.
Not all Catholics are White Caucasians. Other immigrant nationalities such as the following have strong Catholic faith background:

1) Cubans
2) Puerto Ricans
3) Mexicans
4) Guatemalans
5) Colombians
6) Venezuelans
7) Brazilians
8) Argentinians
9) Chileans
10) Filipinos
11) Nigerians
12) Christian Arabs from: Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq

Also, a lot of Christians that are Chinese, too. In fact, in my Church, I have some friends who are from Taiwan, Guangzho, Dalian, Shanghai, and Fujian. :)

dude, in china case.. think are different... imagine if china gov don't control the population... there wont be china today as you see.. so far china gov has doing a great job, you guys not starving, and the kids can have quality education, the parents can focus on one child , instead many child but cant provide good quality life..

..

It's a balancing act. In the 70s, the top priority is to control population growth to allow infrastructure and education to catch up. Nowadays China has sufficient infrastructure and education to handle more population, hence why the government is loosing up the restrictions.

Senior software engineer salary should be enough to find a girl friend?

I believe in fate. I saw so many rich men and women without spouse. Also Singaporeans girls are very materialistic.

You seems to be a software engineer as well?

My language is C/C++, some Java and C#. I know a little web programming language like HTML but not too in depth.

You know all the geopolitic reasons. So you know you need to have kids.
Yes. Like I said in another thread ( I started my career on software as C protocol software engineer on Unix)
Later I learned C++, Java, PHP, Databases, etc. along with many jobs.
Currently, after I got some saving, I am doing PhD. on Computer Vision/Machine Learning.

Envy.

Probably in Thailand you can acquire so many skill sets. In Singapore, it is very difficult. Due to our government's flooding us with foreigners, the employers here are so choosy that they demand perfect match of skill set.

I guess your recruiting managers do not need perfect match and let you pick up on the job.

No one envy me in real life. I am just so so guy. I guess you must make something between 3-5 folds my salary.

I reduced my salary for 50% to do the PHP,Ajax,Java and Oracle jobs (1 single job but need many skills).
I was fixing the "illegal immigrant computer systems". One man did all manner. At the end of the day, its not how many skills do you have. Its how to go up stair from being Software Engineer. Something I still cannot go beyond.

Currently A.I. research see the spring again. You know history of A.I research keep switching from winter to spring. Having trained as Electrical Engineer, I would like to try again. I hope A.I skills can bring me upstair from just a software engineer.

The only time I feel really happy is having an engineering role. When I have some non-engineering/management/sales/marketing role, I feel a little bad.

I do not feel I am adding much value to the society compared to an engineer. Also, when my role allow get close to the managers, I can feel that they are insecure. Many managers are too idle and they do not fit to become a manager. When they see young talented and hard working engineers, they feel panic. That how a lot of politics came about.

I realize such politics is more common in East Asian society rather than white man land. The white man engineering managers rise up more because of their skill set. In East Asia, its about personal relationship and politicking.

BTW I just came back from Vietnam. The Vietnam office and colleague stab one another hard. I hate to see that. But I guess East Asian culture is the same everywhere.

Right now I have a little influence in shaping some company culture. But I do not feel good about it. I look at my managers and I start to pity them. They have lost their skill set and they must rely on "human skills" aka politics.

I am always afraid that as I engage in more system level job, I will become like many managers. I am able to not backstab people, gain respect and move people around precisely because the sheer amount of hard work I put in, and the technical competency which make me command certain confidence.
