Intel also has facilities in Russia , does that mean Russians are good in micro-electronics ? hell no ; Romania makes the best anti-virus software in the world does that mean they are an advance nation ? obviously not

Let's look at the hard data from PISA and TIMMs test results

You cannot change the objective facts contained in the results from PISA and TIMMs tests. Tall tales are useless. Also, your grammar is a strong indication that your country's results on the PISA and TIMMs tests are accurate.

Instead of his bullshit, let me repost the PISA and TIMMs test results. This way, we can all look at the facts.

(insert citations)

People with good grammar often come from a colonized past :D , if you speak your own English then that's the indicator :D

The last people in the world that should be disparaging others

Have you considered that I worked hard to master English as my third language? I spend my time productively, instead of bullshitting like you.

If you don't like the fact that you're being outgunned by other people in English skills or science skills, I suggest you work a lot harder and stop disparaging others.

I find it irritating that people from non-industrialized countries (e.g. Vietnam, Philippines, and Iran) are doing most of the trash talking on this forum. There is something mentally defective with you guys. You should be the last people in the world to talk about innovation or intelligence.

You guys are the world's laggards. Your premise that other people are less intelligent is simply preposterous.

You say you spend your time productively, yet you jump into a mud puddle to wrestle with those you consider inferior. How exactly does that correlate with your level of intelligence?

All right!

and the results of those top performers are not a one-time wonder but they are doing well consistently at many other competitions as well. Check these out:

My impression of select non-industrialized countries

Here is what comes to my mind when you say:

Vietnam - sells coffee beans
Philippines - sells bananas
Iran - a gas station

To make fun of South Koreans, you need to point to a really impressive invention by your country that South Korea can't match (see example below). Capiche?

Taiwan University unveils submicron precision lathe - CNA ENGLISH NEWS

"[Taiwan] University unveils submicron precision lathe

Taipei, Dec. 26 (CNA) A university in Taichung unveiled Tuesday a prototype of a submicron precision lathe that the school says is the most precise lathe designed and manufactured in Taiwan.

The submicron precision lathe made by National Chin-Yi University of Technology can make components with tolerances as small as 0.2 microns (a micron is 0.001 millimeters), said Tsai Kuo-ming, an associate professor who was involved in the machine's design.

Tsai said Taiwan's machine tool industry is among the best in the world, but Japan and Germany still have a technical edge in producing components used in the ultra-precision lathes that produce parts used in high-tech electronics gadgets, such as optical lenses, that have to be precise, thin and lightweight.

As a result, Taiwan's lens suppliers and optical companies have had to import such lathes from abroad, he said.

Hsieh Chung-yu, director of a research center at the university, explained that the critical components for ultra-precision lathes are spindles, controllers, positioning measurement systems, and guideways.

Taiwan has had the ability to produce spindles and positioning measurement devices, but the university made a breakthrough in the area of hydrostatic guideways, and advanced controllers are currently being tested, Hsieh said.

The research center director said that the school is testing controllers made locally on its precision lathe to see if they can meet the general high standard of the new machine.

Hsieh said the school hopes the testing phase for controllers can be completed in 2013 so that it can manufacture a submicron precision lathe to supply to local factories in which all of the critical parts are made in Taiwan.

I'm surprised India is not right alongside China.

PISA, TIMSS, and IQ tests are all in agreement

I heard that India came in last place (number 72?) at the last PISA exam and dropped out from future PISA tests, which is held once every three years. I'll need to research the issue to provide you with a citation. However, I did hear the information from a fairly reliable source (e.g. a longtime Chinese forum member).

China and India are opposites. China scored a leading 556 points on the PISA reading test. India scored an average of 327, which is near the bottom for all countries. The gap between China and India is 229 points.

If you combine the test scores of TWO Indian students for every ONE Chinese student, it would be a close race.

The PISA and TIMSS tests show that the IQ test results are probably accurate. Chinese have an average of 105 IQ and Indians around 82.

Everybody takes the same test. The result is fair and objective. It is what it is.

PISA & TIMSS Confirm Low Quality of Indian Education

"PISA & TIMSS Confirm Low Quality of Indian Education
Thursday, December 29, 2011

Indian students rank near the bottom on PISA, a global test of learning standards conducted in 74 nations this year. TIMSS, another standardized international test, produced similar results earlier in 2003.

XZh9oFH.jpg

This is the first time that Indian students participated in PISA. Students from Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu took the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) test, coordinated by the Paris-based Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Prior to this participation, students from Indian states of Orissa and Rajasthan took a similar test called Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in 2003.

Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh rank high on human development indicators among Indian states. The India Human Development Report 2011, prepared by the Institute of Applied Manpower Research (IAMR), categorized them as “median” states, putting them significantly ahead of the national average. IAMR is an autonomous arm of India's Planning Commission. (article continues)"

One reason that people of 3rd world countries will become less intelligent is because all the intelligent people emigrate out of these countries and seek opportunity in more advance and wealthier countries.

That is up to the future generation to determine. In Vietnam's case, many students study abroad, I hope they can bring back the knowledge they've obtained to brighten Vietnam's future and that the government probably provides what they need to ensure it.

I call bullshit on this. Australia is ranked so high?

These PISA tests must only have been done by the private schools here. Let me assure you, as a product of the Australian public education system, I am far more intelligent than the average student here, whereas in India I was at best an average student.

In fact the only people that had a higher final mark than me were Chinese, Indian and one Turkish guy, not a single white Australian.

I think they are drawing the test candidates from a spectrum of students of different ethnic groups typical in Australia
If the australian education is no good why are you studying there?

These tests do not tend to biase one group over another. I believe the organizers of these tests all have a genuine purpose to analyse, review, investigate and make improvements to the flaws in their own system

india is not doing well and it is a drop-out in the last PISA test (2012)

Regarding TIMSS, China is not participating. HK and Taiwan are representatives instead

I am not simply studying here, I am a part of the University Sponsorship Program of the Royal Australian Air Force, after graduation I will become an officer in the RAAF in the Aerospace Engineering position. I currently work at WorleyParsons, an engineering consultancy specializing in the oil and gas sector.

The high school system here is (in my opinion) inferior to the Indian one. However the tertiary education system here shits all over most Indian institutions.

I can't speak for India as a whole, but I can allude to what my experiences have been. I have noted that a lot of recent migrants from India possess very little to nil critical thinking ability, almost zero ability to apply theory to practise and very poor social skills for working within teams. They are on the other hand, very book smart, able to score in general far higher than I have on tests and exams etc.

On the other hand a friend from Singapore, also Indian, has all these abilities on top of being book smart. I believe the poor show in the PISA results have more to do with how students are taught, rather than their respective IQs.

ok , i'm sorry for what I said on this thread , this morning I took a chill pill and it wasn't effective much
