Dutch populist Wilders calls for ban on Koran

Guys, Wilders is as lunatic as OBL. Ignore him and let him rave and rant. As long as he does not blow up a building and kill 3000 people I could not care less what he says or writes. Don't give him the publicity he craves for.

Regards

I agree fully :agree:

Dutch populist Wilders calls for ban on Koran

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch anti-immigration politician Geert Wilders has called for the Koran to be banned in the Netherlands, branding it a "fascist book" in the vein of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" which legitimises violence.

Writing in Dutch daily De Volkskrant on Wednesday Wilders said: "Ban this wretched book just like Mein Kampf is banned. Send a signal ... to Islamists that the Koran can never, ever be used in our country as an excuse or inspiration for violence."

Hitler's Mein Kampf, published in 1925, outlines the future Nazi dictator's racist ideology. It has been banned from sale in the Netherlands since the end of World War Two.

Ayhan Tonca, chairman of the CMO umbrella group of Dutch Muslim organisations said Wilders' comments were best ignored.

"This is typical Wilders. This is a ridiculous idea," he said "There is not much news at the moment so he is trying to create some."

Wilders, whose new party won nine seats out of the 150 in parliament in last November's elections, is well known for his firebrand remarks on Islam.

He has warned of a "tsunami of Islamisation" in a country home to 1 million Muslims, and has lived under heavy protection since receiving death threats from Islamist militants in 2004.

Wilders said an attack over the weekend by two Moroccans and a Somali on a young Iranian-born politician who heads a Dutch group for "ex-Muslims" had spurred him to write.

The attack on Ehsan Jami, 22, caused an outcry in the Netherlands, where the November 2004 murder of Theo Van Gogh, a filmmaker critical of Islam, by a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim militant led to an anti-Muslim backlash and exposed social tensions.

Issues of immigration and integration no longer top the political agenda, despite the efforts of Wilders and his allies. "Allah sees the death penalty as fitting for those who no longer believe," Wilders wrote on Wednesday, adding this view had fuelled the attack on Jami, now under police protection.

The Muslim holy book should be banned from sale, from use in mosques and private households, Wilders added.

Earlier this year, Wilders called for a vote of no-confidence in two Muslim government ministers, questioning their loyalty to the country because of their dual nationality.

He has also campaigned to ban Muslim face veils, ban the building of new mosques and halt all Muslim immigration.

In April, Wilders was warned by the Dutch anti-terrorism chief that his anti-Islam statements had stoked anger in the Middle East, and that he was going too far.

This dude is a mother ******* drunkard who has no idea what he is saying very similar to thousands of drunk europeans and americans shouting the hell off on youtube.

Muslim states slam Dutch at UN on Islamophobia, film

* Pakistan says controversial Dutch film incited hatred against Muslims

GENEVA: Muslim countries led by Iran and Pakistan called on the Netherlands on Tuesday to combat what they called rising Islamophobia and discrimination against immigrants in Dutch society.

Condemning a film released by Dutch Member of Parliament Geert Wilders that accuses Islam of condoning violence, they urged Dutch authorities to prosecute its author for inciting hatred against Muslims.

Pakistan: “Despite an impressive array of (Dutch) laws and an elaborate framework to combat racism and xenophobia, recent actions by individuals to incite racial hatred and religious intolerance have shocked Muslims around the world,” Pakistan’s ambassador Masood Khan told the UN Human Rights Council.

“A defamatory documentary released by a Dutch parliamentarian intended to demonise Muslims and distort the message of the holy Quran has been widely condemned,” he said, referring to the leader of the anti-immigration Freedom Party.

Khan called on the Dutch government to complete its investigation into the film’s release and to prosecute the author for “inciting hatred against Muslims in the Netherlands and all around the world”.

Iran’s ambassador Alireza Moaiyeri also denounced discrimination against minorities in the Netherlands. The most recent example he gave was “attacking Islam through the making of a defamatory film against the holy Koran as a vivid example of Islamophobia and incitement to racial and religious hatred”.

Nebahat Albayrak, Dutch secretary of state for justice and one of two Muslims in the cabinet, told the Geneva forum her government had opposed the release of the film.

Albayrak, who is Turkish-born, said her government was drawing up a plan to combat racial discrimination in the labour market, law enforcement, criminal investigation and on the Internet.

“Combating prejudice and respecting the freedom of Muslims to practice their religion are key themes of our integration policies,” she said.

“The Dutch government strongly believes that fostering interaction (between communities) will help us to combat discrimination and Islamophobia,” she added.

The Dutch public prosecutor was investigating a possible criminal offence in connection with the film, she added.

Dutch Muslims have defended freedom of expression as a fundamental right of Dutch society, she said.

The Dutch are shooting themselves in the a$$ really, arent they. They're radicalizing a whole population against Islam, whilst trying to coexist with Muslims. I don't think such politicians are so unpopular in Holland, too many are coming out with such documentaries and inflammatory anti Muslim statements and still win many votes - Pim Fortyn being the obvious example.

RR,

He seem to be losing support at the moment, Imho he underestimeated the Dutch tollerance. Dutch support him for his rigth on free speech but at the same time condemn the movie because its inciting harted.

Most Dutch agree on shortsightness of Wilders and his motives which need no further explanaition.

Btw, excellent response from 800.000+ strong Dutch Muslim community, we've remained calm and moved on with our normal lives proving Wilders wrong that Islam is violant.
