Udupi: Sudeep Sudhakar - Only Indian Chosen for Australian Air Force

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 11: A youth, who grew up in Manipal, has made his state and country proud, by being chosen to serve Royal Australian Air Force. The fact that he is the only Indian to be picked up for this coveted post makes his feat all the more laudable.

This time around, 92 persons were selected for the Australian Air Force. Sudeep Sudhakar, a shy and down-to-earth boy, who was hesitant in the initial stages even to apply for the post, has succeeded in bagging this dream job. Sudeep, now 26, is the son of U Sudhakar Salian, extension counter officer of T A Pai Management Institute in Manipal, and Yashwanti S Salian, professor in the department of commerce, MGM College here.

After living nearly four years in Australia during which he completed post-graduate degree in product development and computational fluid dynamics from Deacon University there, Sudeep had decided to become an Australian resident.

Sudeep completed his early education in Madhava Kripa School in Manipal, before completing pre university education in MGM PU College, and getting his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from National Institute of Enginering, Mysore. He then went to Australia to pursue further education. Sudeep was good in extra curricular activities during his school days, and was actively participating in athletics, swimming, shuttle badminton, basket ball, and such other sports activities. When in SSLC, he had won the President’s medal for scout activities. He had represented Vishweshwaraya Technological University in south India level badminton tournament.

He had begun working as a design engineer in Australia. After five rounds of interviews, he was appointed as the flying officer in the aerospace engineering department of Royal Australian Air Force.

There are a few Indians serving in Australian Defence Forces, I happen to know couple of them myself.

I just feel shocked when I see the thread. I mean there are hundreds of thousands of indians living in australia, then why an indian boy joins RAAF is laudable? I am sure there are Chinese/Korean/Iraqi members in Australian armed forces.

nationalism won't make you a great man

oh, btw, Australia public in general don't like indians, that is the reason why there were so many indian bashing in australia.

Thanks for that piece of information. Apparently Australians don't like Australians either, thats why there are so many Caucasians Australians getting bashed in Australia by other Caucasian Australians.

.
of course they would be Sikhs.....

There are Hindu and Christian Indian's too serving in Australian Defence Forces, and at least one Indian Muslim from Hyderabad I personally know, who is a reservist in the Australian Army. But yeah Sikhs have a long history in Australia.

well i'm not saying that there are not Hindus or Indians of any other religion not serving in the Australian defense forces but i'm saying that there would be Sikhs in the Australian defense forces because as you know Sikhs are a very martial people and go into the military or other professions

was it not prince charles who went to China in the 1980's to meet British students studying there and said "If you stay here much longer, you'll go slit-eyed."???

who said australian public dont like us??
trolling again without knowing anything??
most of indians go there for education and jobs..so it is something when someone when Indian joins armed forces...

.
historically, indian-australian didn't do very well.

there is no indian-australian federal minister. (Penny Wong)
there is no indian-australian military legend. (Billy Sing)
there is no indian-australian major city mayor. (John So)
there is no indian-australian scientist known by all (vast majority) australians. (Victor Chang)

that is probably the reason why it suddently becomes laudable when an indian joins the RAAF -- which operates only a couple dozen fighters.

well chinese have been in australia longer than indians so there must be many generations of chinese that grew up there...
but indians recently started going there...
i can put names on indian politicians, scientists, doctors etc etc in USA...
but you see its not about that neither it is about what chinese did in australia..so if you have anything else than trolling then contribute or say bye bye..
