Close on the heels of hacking of the CBI website, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sunday said it was developing a mechanism to make websites hacking-proof. This was stated by Dr V K Saraswat, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and Director General of DRDO, on the
sidelines of a function where he was conferred with a D. Sc degree by the KIIT University at its annual convocation.

Referring to the hacking of CBI website on the intervening night of December 3 and 4, Saraswat described cyber security as a major concern for the nation's safety.

The CBI has registered a case against unknown persons for hacking and defacement of its official website by people, who identified themselves as "Pakistani Cyber Army".

DRDO is developing both software and hardware to put defence networks out of the reach of hackers, he said.

"It is always better to use indigenously developed systems than using others' designs," he said. The DRDO chief expressed optimism that its engineers could certainly develop hacking proof devices.

There is no such thing called as hack proof. It would be harder but not impossible to hack.

Making an anti-virus and hack proofing a system/website is just like raising a wall high so that intruders cannot pass through it easily. So, no matter how high a wall is raised it just makes it harder for the intrudes but they can always climb through it.

There is only one method to hack proof and that is "Disconnect it from the network and turn it off".

As long as a website/computer is connected to a network and gates are open for data, it is hackable.

First step to make anything hack proof is to first get rid of Windows OS.

ISRO is most strong in this field, to access the outer layer of their is hard, their core system is The HARDEST one to even to connect from the outer hemisphere.. GoI can ask help from ISRO for this kind of techs...

It is not possible with conventional Windows Servers/ Unix Servers.
They need to build entirely new kernel and network protocols.
IO Management Bus is also crucial. (with cached data on those channels are used to hack)

Kernal programming is easy once architecture is made. But it will eat lot of time.

With my experience i can suggest is remove null session from UNIX ie. IPC$
and change the scheduling to priority based instead of round robin.

ISRO Mostly deals with Embedded OS ex. MINIX, many more are there
if i am true they will use PowerPC for telemetry data wich handled by some so like unix based Z/OS, AIX etc.. i think

These website are maintained by NIC, with assistance C-DAC. Till now they are using linx, they developed BOSS.

We need to develop any new OS which can handle Enterprise Server

Stop nonsense regarding Microsoft. I can tell you the reason, when it come's to micro-computers they have to design OS for various reasons for running various kinds of applications.

Some critics even say if they(commercial company) make 100% secure OS, who is going to buy next updated version. Any why they even will have Mou with Anti-virus companies, so need to sacrifice something for them. Most important is microsoft will keep some open ports for their accessing to our PC ex. validation, updation etc.


Do you think web-servers will be runnings on micro-computers. They are going to run on Mini Computers or mainframe. Because they need to handle large amount of data.

Main challenge for DRDO is
1) Kernal.
2) File System.

india is a world leader in software... dont under estimate it.
india has already begun preparations to make new OS by getting IP rights from some processor makers...
india will hold the source code for it..
new OS will be ready in 5 years i bet
