First thing don't answer me if u don't read my full post:
Bhai I've read your complete post before posting but replied you for the part I didn't found correct.
Secondly, Brother the only thing thats stopping IAF from procuring Phalcon awacs is the sudden sharp increase in prices otherwise they would have done it long time back:
If prices IAI are asking is more than What their product can deliver then there is no point is buying more units especially when DRDO has the capability to make similar platform as there is no urgency right now.
the reason i said dire need was currently we have only 3 awacs n if one of them down for repairs or any other purposes then we will be left with only 2 of them n that won't be sufficient for IAF
Even we don't know much about the smaller awacs that DRDO has been making as it will take nothing less than 2015 for it to become fully operational n it won't take them 5-7 years(considering their past record) for a fully developed 360 degree awac that would mean atleast 2017-18
Whereas our opponents r continuosly increasing there awacs pakistan will soon be operating 8 awacs let alone china
So what do u suggest we do in the mean time just keep on waiting for DRDO to do some miracle like they have been doing with tejas, kaveri n what not
Read my previous post.....
Leave the rest of your post first tell me why we are we in a dire need of A POTENT AWACS ?? AWACs is not just a big radar riding on the back of a lumpy plane capable of intercepting and tracking aerial targets its a system which is instrumental in having a well coordinated C4I army . And I am sure you are completely aware of our Army's current C4I capability.
Not to mention the other system needed to bulid too like high number of UAVs , Battle field radars , reconnance equipment yadda yadda yadda.
AWACs is a key to a potent network centric army it hardly matters how many AWACs our adversaries are buying untill our ground forces are not capable enough to take advantage of an AWAC then there is no point in buying more as of now. Aircrafts in high altitude or where ever can still detected by Ground based radars and not to mention our powerfull flankers but the point where you really need AWAC is when you need a platform which can do all the jobs along with helping the ground forces. I personally think if the cost increase is really lot then there is no harm in waiting for 7-8 years and see what DRDO develops .
