Bad times have come for the DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization). Top scientists are leaving their work spots and instead heading to the IT sector where they are offered a much better pay and job conditions. As many as 20 top scientists have resigned in the past six months leaving DRDO to find a way to retain its employees.

The best scientists are now focusing on the private IT sector. The companies involved in this sector are on a hiring spree and many of the scientists prefer the better paid IT jobs than the jobs at the DRDO. The DRDO is officially looking for various HR policies in order to keep its good scientists. Vijaykumar Saraswath stated these policies have been taken care of. While Saraswath was speaking about this issue he didn’t forget to mention that he had signed 20 resignation letters in just the past six months.

However, there is light in the end of the tunnel as NRI science graduates are showing great interest in working with the DRDO. Youngsters from various Indian universities are also keen on working with the DRDO so it is more than expected that the DRDO will focus on hiring young and perspective scientists

good times come after bad times.
dont worry.
we have a lot of great brains in the making.

Nothing comes for free. If you want great brains to work for you, be ready to pay them.

Why will an IIT grad (the best brain in the country) work in a sarkari naukri not paying more than Rs. 35000?

He would rather work in Private sector, make the same weapon system and sell the technology to either DRDO or the armed forces instead.

Better business, better money.

we should increase salary of DRDO scientists by at least 2 times. but more importantly army should stop misbehaving with DRDO. army keeps denying their products even if sometimes they are above expectation. they never tell DRDO what they want. when DRDO develops product army tells," no we want this feature too in product". hence no work satisfaction for scientists.

The best working model for DRDO is to work like a provate corp. keeping international customers in mind just like any other international corporation. BRAHMOS Aerospace is the perfect example.

You develop a great weapon system able to compete with the best in the world, Indian Army will have to buy it anyways.

Make your product so attractive that nobody be it the army or navy or air force could refuse to buy it.

research and development cannot take place in routine 9 to 5 sarkari job. it requires zeal, dedication and good project management. it wd be good if most of the DRDO untis are transeferred under joint control of private/public sector. at least there will be accountability of some kind.

Really good...let young graduates get a chance

Give money, give a better working environment, employ professional managers for Projects and then see the change for yourself.

Yes it is always nice to let younger ones have their chance to shine, however you will still need the elders with the experience to lead and to nurture them.
