DRDO Lab Makes Most Powerful Conventional Explosive

Good to know such a high tech and potent research is being done right next doors...Time for ISI boys to steal some formulas ;)

R&AW Guarding the Doors.... :D....

Aviation Thermobaric Bomb of Increased Power (ATBIP) (Russian: Авиационная вакуумная бомба повышенной мощности (АВБПМ)), nicknamed "Father of All Bombs" (FOAB) (Отец всех бомб), is a Russian-made air-delivered/land activated thermobaric weapon. In describing the bomb's destructive power, Russian deputy armed forces chief of staff Alexander Rukshin was quoted as saying, "all that is alive merely evaporates."[1] The bomb is reportedly four times as powerful as the U.S. military's GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (official military acronym "MOAB" is often colloquially said as the "Mother of All Bombs".

This is in Collabration of Russian, Isreali, French and US.

What we call it now

It will be more beneficial to you if you spend ur energy in something else then stealing.

well we must build a bomb in the lines of moab of US.....

"anyone have the list of nations that can make this? i hear US is using it in rocket propellant and experimental weapons "

no.

According to wiki, the explosive velocity of RDX is 8750 m/s, while that of HMX is 9100 m/s. The explosive velocity of CL-20, on the other hand, is 9380 m/s, a mere 3% more than HMX. According to Global Security, CL-20 is 20% more powerful than HMX i.e. 1.2 times HMX.

So unless I'm missing something, this '15 times' seems to be either an exaggeration or a typo.

Indian Scientist at DRDO have developed most powerful non-nuclear explosive known so far .........
DRDO Scientists at Pune-based High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) have developed CL-20 which is the most powerful non-nuclear explosive known so far . A few countries with advanced capabilities in the field of energetic materials have developed such explosive .

ICL-20 can substantially reduce the weight and size of the warhead while causing more damage .

It is 4 times more powerful than RDX and some 15 times more powerful than the average explosives .

India Developing The World's Most Powerful Conventional Explosive
The Most Powerful Non-nuclear Explosives in the World

Indian CL-20
A new high explosive is in the making at a DRDO lab here that could replace other standard explosives of the armed forces such as RDX, HMX, FOX-7 and Amorphous Boron. Scientists at the Pune-based High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) have already synthesised adequate quantity of CL-20, the new explosive, in their laboratory.

The powerful explosive can substantially reduce the weight and size of the warhead while packing much more punch. The compound, 'Indian CL-20' or 'ICL-20', was indigenously developed in HEMRL using inverse technology. CL-20, so named after the China Lake facility of the Naval Air Weapons Station in California, US, was first synthesised by Dr Arnold Nielson in 1987.

CL-20 or Octa-Nitro-Cubane is a Nitramine class of explosive 15 times as powerful as HMX.HMX itself is more than four times as potent as RDX.

CL-20-based Shaped Charges significantly improve the penetration over armors and could potentially be used in the bomb for the 120-mm main gun mounted on the MBT Arjun tanks. The CL-20 is its reduced sensitivity enables easy handling and transportation and reduces the chances of mishap and loss to men, money, materials and machines.

Almost everything DRDO does, it takes India to elite club.

Please stop using self praise.

US had it in 90's... nuf said....

Though a Good development.

India you really need to play dumb and stop giving your enemies ideas. You only create a strategic environment that is harder to control
