DRDO developing futuristic rifles for Army

I hear ya.....our main problem with our forces is that they need to get that creative bug! Once, a few soldiers get that and encourage others, others will follow thru. I tried helping India back in 98-2000 but being an American citizen there was no mechanism to facilitate any suggestions that may help. I wasn't looking to get paid either, just wanted to help the motherland.

helping the motherland is best served by being objective as we can_ and that's all we all need to do as expatriates...

Don't you think if there should be a mechanism in place to allow the flow of ideas that could potentially help the poor, the military, the young, the old, the schools, etc. I mean If China is acting upon this and looking for a way to allow greater mobility of thoughts from Chinese expatriates, then shouldn't we follow suit. I didn't agree with your suggestion "that's all we all need to do as expats" ....why can't we do more. You are holding yourself back by doing so. We are in the best position to help those who live in a close minded society. We are the only ones who are exposed to the Western World not taking into account the Rich and the upper middle class. They are big but they hardly trickle the knowledge gained to the rest of the folks. We can help eradicate poverty and Corruption which is really holding us back.

you're right - i would say join Indian related professional groups, which are aplenty in the US and help bring more investments to India or organizations that are Indian think tanks based in the US . Free markets will ensure a trickle down as India is still socialistic at heart.

Is this the rifle they are developing??? Look at the Back Ground Picture

Modern+Sub-Machine+Carbine.jpg

The rifle on the background is definitely a BullPup design, which is good. The last thing anyone would want in the future rifle, is the old configuration.

The title says "Multi Caliber Rifle". I wonder what this means. I assume this implies that the rifle would ave the ability to swap different Caliber barrels (some guns do). This is good feature indeed.

Some other "must have's" should include

# Picatinny rails standard, in order to support a variety of add-ons
# A scope similar ACOG or better as Standard
# High Tolerance for use in muddy/desert environs (places where the M16 and M4 have a ot of issues)

Guyz,

Do u know the great DRDO stuff we are talking bout is actually a joint venture between DRDO and IDF, Isreal. Infact the so called F-Insas is an upgraded version of very famour tavor TAR-21 rilfe.

This is MTAR-21 (micro TAR) and its indian varient is called SITRA (zittara).

DRDO infact took the tar-21 and with IDF came up with an upgraded version.

And this MTAR is done with basic testings and is in process to go 4 mass production of 1st batch.

CONGRATS ! Finally we will have a worldclass bullpup rifle with our soldiers.

Where do you got it that F-INSAS rifles are upgraded version of tavor? :hang2::hang2::hang2:

There is not a single way they look similar except both are bullpup rifles so is all modern rifles. Under F-INSAS three to four different rifles are under development, we have sen pic of two so far.

You didn't get it well. F-INSAS is not any rifle like INSAS but its a complete package to arm soldiers with futuristic gadgets.

When is this rifle gonna develop. They took more time to develop a machine gun than Arjun mkII. If anybody has any news on progress then please share. Also does anybody see any changes in army that could be the part of FINSAS ??/ I heard first phase will be over in 2011-2012. (Please don't include TAR21)
