DRDO claim on LCA export premature: Former top IAF officers

I personally think the IAF officer is talking sense here...if you look at the quality they posses LCA would be a pain in *** for them and due to govt pressure they have to buy couple of squadrons after the massive amount they have wasted.

.
But.... but i am laughing mate :_
Really! thats because you can't answer my question :undecided:. The fact is that there is not a single local manufacturers in pakistan who can even build cars or bikes with international quality. Tell me if i am wrong. Ok lets back to LCA, DRDO developed it from its basic design to its final stage, and of course with many foreign elements, but it is not like you're JF-17 which is a by-product of china or any other countries. So they need more time, more trails to make it an efficient bird before inducting in IAF.

.
Who says it needs to be world beating? Not me! But that's the problem, DRDO thinks they were worldclass and therefore promise anything, while delivering next to nothing. Get them back on earth again, let them evaluate their own capabilities in a more realistic way and let them focus on delivering what our forces needs and not to show off in the media.

As it is widely reported, LCA is under performing in flight and radar performance and for both these issues, ADA/DRDO are trying to find solutions (more thrust in MK2 and a new nose with new materials and possibly a new design), so it's kind of moot to say that it has no faults.

That's not correct, without the radar working properly and the BVR missiles integrated and launched with radar guidance, LCA can't perform it's primary role of an interceptor. But the delays of the indigenous radar developments of DRDO, made THEM to integrate the HMS, LDP and LGB's far earlier than actually needed.
IAF requires a multi role fighter, which is nothing but logical in this day and age, but they don't require all weapons to be integrated from day one, but basic CAS weapons, dumb bombs and LGB's. And the F16 was not designed to be a multi role fighter, but later upgraded to it, so you can't compare the old standards with the common standards today.

The rest as I said, they promise much, but haven't delivered yet and all I want is, to see more work that leads to the delivery and less show off in the media or pointless air shows.

The discussion is not about the fighter, but the fighter project and what DRDO has achieved within the project!

No its not underperforming ,but its opening up its flight envelop slowly and steadily taking care of every other aspect, checking and rechecking again and again for each single flight.Reason: Well any incident will give IAF a reason to cancel Tejas.Just look at the Aerospace industry in other parts of world like Gripen and their aggressive flight testing, they even crashed a prototype but that doesn't dither their forces to show lack of confidence or come out in public to show their displeasure. And the less you say about Former IAF chief Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy is better for us.

BVR is not a primary role as an interceptor as per original GSQR . IAF could takeover the LCA from 2008 onwards and prepare their wishlist,so that ADA will come up upgraded version in small batch. While, LCA fired R73,drops LGB and dumb bombs as per IAF GSQR.If ADA had so much freedom, then they would love to put LCA for flypast in 26Jan.
And the Quartz Nose cone is FOC standard,so they will design the cone taking clue from other planes under their umbrella. But It seems they experimented or did some wrong calculation while designing Nose cone earlier with composite material as it absorbs most of the signals.Their is no fault in Radar FYI.

Dont waste your time, all this is readily available on the internet, for example every one know high thrust was Navys requirement but the gr8 IAF got an excuse to demand more and delay teh induction process. When one has skewed mindset, he/she will only latch on own fantasies rather than changing realities.

IAF want space craft with lasers...... like Army draft Next Generation tank specification and send to Wold tank manufacture , they reply came ..... don't dreams and work in reality.

Then Army said sorry and want Arjun MK-III.

Same story is goes for IAF.

Really? They don't want LCA to be able to do what even Mig 21 BISONS can? What the Mig 29s did even in Kargil to prevent PAF crossing borders? Btw according recent reports even the gun will only be fitted now before FOC and do you now say a gun is also not needed for an interceptor? Please, lets not search for such pointless excuses!

Which report is saying only gun's will be added to lca by foc (end of this year)

Bangalore: Three aircraft from Tejas flight-line have successfully completed advanced weapon trials in Jamnagar as part of the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) campaign, which began in December last year. Sources associated with the project confirmed to Express on Wednesday that the integration process of all new weapons on the aircraft has been completed.
"We have fired all the new weapons in all possible release modes and the results have been satisfactory. We have also completed the integration of a new drop tank as part of the FOC activity. With this, we have successfully completed the carriage, fuel transfer and jettison trials," an official, who was part of the Jamnagar trials said. It took three Tejas aircraft (LSP-3, LSP-5 and LSP-7) over 30 sorties to complete the weapon trials.
As part of the FOC, the aircraft is now being readied for all-weather trials in Bangalore. "One aircraft is also being readied for night flying with upgraded systems and software. Plans are afoot to take Tejas for hot weather trials in Gwalior next month," the official added. So far, since its maiden flight on January 4, 2001, Tejas has completed 2587 sorties logging in over 1750 hours of incident-free flying.
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) Chairman R K Tyagi said that the company is on track in rolling out the first Series Production (SP-1) aircraft. He said ahead of the Initial Operational Clearance in December last year, HAL was working parallel with the Aeronautical Developmental Agency for the finalisation of the production configuration of the aircraft.
"The first SP-1 is in advanced stages of equipping and we will have the ground run by end of June. The SP-1 should start flying by August. The second, third and fourth production aircraft are in various stages of structural build and we hope to deliver four aircraft in the current year to the Indian Air Force (IAF)," Tyagi said.
Tyagi said that HAL will be pushing for more Tejas orders to be placed on the company. "We as a nation should mandate the use of this aircraft as a replacement of MiG-21. We should go ahead and manufacture around 200 aircraft. That will be a huge boost to India's indigenous manufacturing effort. I am confident when the production rate picks up in future, HAL should be able to manufacture 20 aircraft every year," he said. The IAF has so far placed confirmed orders of 40 Tejas aircraft, with the first 20 to be built as per the IOC standards.
Ahead of the FOC, crucial milestones that the project needs to complete include, integration of the missiles with the radar, integration of Russian-made 23 mm GSH gun, air-to-air refuelling probe, better braking system and change of nose cone radome from composite materials to quartz for an improved range.

Where it says only guns will be integrated by FOC(year end)?

Actually the article says that they have completed advanced weapon trails, can be interpreted that they have tested all possible weapons including BVR.

Ah now I get your point, but I didn't said only as there will be no other changes, but that it will be implemented "only during the FOC" and is no now.

Actually the article says that they have completed advanced weapon trails, can be interpreted that they have tested all possible weapons including BVR.

No, it clearly says...
Ahead of the FOC, crucial milestones that the project needs to complete include, integration of the missiles with the radar, integration of Russian-made 23 mm GSH gun, air-to-air refuelling probe, better braking system and change of nose cone radome from composite materials to quartz for an improved range.

So the Derby missiles and the gun will be integrated only during the FOC, while WVR missiles and LGBs were already integrated.

i don't know why people don't see the faults of tejas even now??!!
i mean i am really stunned
