:: Dr Subramanian Swamy - India can be Superpower! ::

What do you expect of these folks who kill human beings for the sake of cows without any remorse, qualms or hesitation???

There's a difference. In countries like Germany, ALL technical students have to go through apprenticeships.

In India, most bare baap ki aulad to go to private Engineering colleges in NRI quota, the middlings who borrowed money for cigarettes go to government run dilapidated institutions. And all the lukkhas and bhik-mangas go to ITI's. Their careers never go anywhere, as all high paid positions are reserved for MBAs with no experience.

It's a corrupt inferior system which does not help the country become technically competent. China also has a better technical education at local level. The education system does reflect India's caste system though. So it's a systematic form of oppression of Dalits, women, Muslims, and other oppressed classes.

All engineering colleges and other technical institutes should become ITI's. So I am calling for the upgradation of ITI's.

Very few STEM students in India are quality material. Most go overseas and work for MNC's so I don't see much difference.

Lets' remember India ranks at the bottom of PISA (60th) which is a standardized test globally for technical minds. Indian students also score poorly at International Maths Olympiad and other standardized international tests.

As for student dharnas, they are required to mold next generation of leaders. Education's purpose is not to create mindless drones but active thinkers, and strong personalities.

No one should have to pay irrespective of stream. No student should have to pay even for notebooks and stationery items. That's how it works in most developed countries including where I am now.

It's the government's job to provide massive subsidies in education. India has a $3 trillion GDP by some accounts. So it can definitely afford to spend at least 5 percent of that to create a comprehensive free education system accessible to all.
Just tell me one simple thing. I asked your comrade @jamahir but he has no reply.

How does studying humanities help anyone?

Do they get good jobs? No
Do they manage/start companies that provide jobs to thousands of people? No
Do they build or design anything that helps the society? No

They are just a drag for society. Govt aided humanities studies need to be reduced to a minimum because they don't give good RoI

I am an engineer and MBA and I always look at the bottom line. What is the return on investment for the government to fund an arts course

That's a flawed way of measuring human resources capability for any nation. I'm not interested in human ROI but HDI where India ranks at the bottom of the world.

The quality of so many engineers in India is pathetic. They should have never studied engineering in the first place. In fact, there incompetent engineering graduates do all sorts of jobs after their education: shopkeeper, loan agent, hotel manager. Why? Because no engineering company would hire them. So in your ROI parlance, it's 60-70% of India's engineers that are a bad investment.

All I am saying only those engineering and medical students should study who are technically competent, and have real interest. A Personal Interview (PI) should be made compulsory in all engineering colleges so the fake wannabes don't get admission just because they have NRI quota or somehow crammed their way through an entrance exam. Maybe have a system where they all gain 6 months apprentice training in a workshop or something before they get admission.

Technical STEM education should be a "privilege" for worthy students. No Tom, Dick, or Harry should get in just because their fathers can afford it.

Arts students have a different purpose. They can also form companies and doctors everything else you describe.

How old are you really? After a certain age, it doesn't matter what one studied. People become professionals.

Swamy is a crank. I don't think even his party takes him seriously.

In a good society, most employment of people has to be by the system because of the means of production being managed by the system ( in common terms, Nationalization ). Like if in India the farmers would have been employees of the state then there would have been no socio-economic-related suicides like has been currently.

What is the return on investment for the government to fund an arts course

The ROI in sociology, political science and unbiased history during technical courses would have been a society more humane and more receptive to the idea of a welfare state.

Because this was not done we have the present situation where middle class drones voted for Modi and believe that 10,000 years ago India had flying machines, in vitro fertilization and atom bombs. And don't care about the suffering of people less economically privileged than them.

Do they build or design anything that helps the society? No

Tell me, why is even a small, private spacecraft design organization, SpaceX, greatly more advanced than the hugely resourced ( human, material, financial ) Indian government organization, ISRO ? SpaceX is 18 years old and ISRO is 58 years old and by now ISRO should have had a manned space program, even a manned Mars program. Why is it not the case ?

so the fake wannabes don't get admission just because they have NRI quota or somehow crammed their way through an entrance exam.

Years ago I was once in a barber shop and heard two clients talking about their children's academic future. One asked the other, does bio-technology have more "scope" than IT. Of course by "scope" he meant better job prospects. He didn't consider whether his child was interested in bio-tech. The middle-class of India is very money-minded.

STOP DISOWNING YOUR OWN PEOPLE THIS FREAK HAS A SIZE ABLE STRENGTH OF FOLLOWERS, PEOPLE CONSIDER HIM SOME KIND OF NOBEL PRIZE WINNER WORTHY ECONOMIST

Only that part of the middle class which voted for Modi.

And bhai, why are you shouting - all-caps text ?

That's a bigger problem. Indian parents are authoritarian, and their bachas are spoiled.

More Indian boys should be encouraged to study in boarding schools in by government. Those who are in day schools should join boy scouts or other discipline organizations to toughen them up.

By the time a boy turns 18, he should be expected to develop an independent mind. They take too late to enter manhood nowadays.

Most girls waste good engineering courses except for IT and bio-tech. I'm in favour of girls wanting to study at much as they want but they should also not become spoiled. They should learn to cook and clean, and become good wives and mothers. If they want to remain spinsters, it should be as last resort.

Dating culture should be encouraged in India. I don't want to see so many sexually frustrated males roaming around.

Government has no business being in business

How many times do I have to tell you

Capitalism is good, Money is God

Every one should work for private companies, earn money and be happy

Government has no business being in business

Your idea hasn't turned out so well for India.

Every one should work for private companies, earn money and be happy

Be happy ? It is because of money that everyone is miserable in one way or another. Why do you worship money ? As I have told you before "Money should be facility, not necessity".

About private companies, lot of middle class people are seeing the prospect of employment loss because of Corona.

More money you have more happy you will be.

Your farmers and migrant won't die if they have more money

I am an unabashed capitalist. I hate socialism. Whatever programs currently in place are more than enough. People don't need crutches.

In old days I would have been happy to be a landlord or his munim

.

The migrants died for the lack of access to basic human necessities.

The farmers died because of a stupid socio-economic system.

Money by itself is not some magical thing. The Indian government has enough of it ( India being a "top economy" ) but its citizens still suffer.

That's a bigger problem. Indian parents are authoritarian, and their bachas are spoiled.

I will reply later.
