London-based economist Dr Imran Rasul has become the second member of government's Economic Advisory Council (EAC) to resign following the exclusion of Dr Atif Mian, who was asked to step down from the body due to backlash over his Ahmadiyya faith.

"With a heavy heart, I have resigned from the EAC this morning," Dr Rasul, professor of economics at University College, London, said in a tweet.

The economist said he "profoundly disagree" with the circumstances in which Mian was asked to resign from the council.

Good. Sane cabinet members must also resign. Starting with Asad Umar since this council was his idea. PTI can forget about of getting support/donations from overseas Pakistanis that are in a position to donate. Pakistan might be the first country to not only have brain drain, but have the brains drained also flushed down the toilet.

Another embarrassment for Pakistan. They can stay there, why they think about Pakistan when Religious nuts even government victimize them on religious ground instead of Merit.
Our best wishes for them. They are capable and they can live happily anywhere in the world by using God gifted talent.

Asad Umar needs to disband the council. This is an international embarrassment. Can continue to take advise from these individuals in an informal setting.

Why make them scapegoats, and take advise from these individuals without pay. They also have family.
Galian b do unko aor advise b inhi se?
This is not Old Pakistan, also not New Pakistan, Signs shows direction is set towards stone age mentality.

Good decision. The EAC should be disbanded and the finance minister and Imran Khan need to resign for 1) not anticipating the backlash from certain corners 2) not sticking up for these top talent they have appointed and 3) for allowing bigotry and blackmail to determine the policy of the state.

Well in one way this is a nice event. Now our economic policy in back in Pakistan's hands and not in the hands of IMF or World Bank. Finally no puppets.

So people who can make a difference are asked to leave or resign...good going jahils.
But why do you want people from IMF to run your economy?
