Dont slam ‘PK’ without even seeing it: Hindu leader

This is just a movie. Imagine if it happens in Muslim world, they will slaughter everyone. Hindus still have patience. I must admire and majority are still open mind.

Are you in your senses? Read what you quoted. A person (tried to)kill himself to protest against the film, by consuming poison and drowing in the Ghat.

How is that equivalent to 'burning theaters, killing crew'?

I don't want pk banned. Just want to let my displeasure known. That is all. :)

Oh well, I need to spoon feed you now....

"On January 30 fundamentalist thugs destroyed the film's sets.

After wrecking the set, the mob held a meeting and vowed to stop the film. Police officers made no attempt to arrest any of those responsible.

The central government did not oppose the actions of its allies in the state government. Local BJP leaders, in turn, mobilised and led the extremist hooligans against the film production. After the thugs had done their dirty work, the state government piously claimed that it had to “keep the peace” and halt production."

"Ms. Mehta, 55, is no stranger to Hindu protests. Her 1996 film about a lesbian relationship, "Fire," the first in a trilogy, enraged fundamentalists in India, who burned down movie theaters."

If putting words in my mouth makes you happy, so be it. :D

I liked Water though, thank God we have rid ills - that was a valid criticism and not a cheap shot at Hinduism per se. The performance was also great. I will have to check Fire to comment on that and rest assured I will.

Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ box office collections near a humongous Rs 650 cr mark; India net biz at Rs 338 cr | The Financial Express

uperstar Aamir Khan starrer ‘PK’ whose box office collections jumped by leaps and bounds to make Bollywood history, has seen its business taper down over the last week or so, but it has maintained a steady pace even as it enters the fag end of its life in theatres. ‘PK’, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt and Sushant Singh Rajput in pivotal roles, has added to its kitty for the fifth weekend in a row and in fact it has done better that any other film released during the 4th week and had a decent 5th weekend despite a slew of new releases.

Overall, ‘PK’ box office collections have been moving relentlessly towards the big Rs 650 crore mark. The movie has grossed over Rs 480 crore in the domestic box office (with Rs 338 crore from net collections) and minting nearly Rs 160 crore from overseas market.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘PK’ box collections for the week 5 stand at Rs 4.27 crore to Rs 338.1 crore in India.

International box office-wise, the Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer is now the second biggest grosser ahead of ‘3 Idiots’ and a step behind ‘Dhoom 3′, which made Rs 190 crore.

Adarsh said ‘PK’ is all-time Bollywood blockbuster in USA-Canada as it 5-week total in the region goes up to $10,532,007 (Rs 64.66 crore).
