But
China must try to survive in the short term fist, cHINA WILL FACE WITH SUPER HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, export will tumple even worse, stock market scrash, housing bubble bursted etc....and if China still survive, US will make more harder rules for you guys ....so, enjoy !:)

You don't get it.

TPP is to entice countries to get special access to US market and US investment but to prevent local companies from developing and challenging US corporations.

It will force a permanent dependency on the US which will increase political leverage of the US on the country.

The aim of any sovereign country is to develop their own companies and brands and reduce foreign dependency.

TPP will increase barriers to entry for local companies which will stunt the development of local brands and local technologies.

China will not be subject to harsh American imposed rules and will be free to develop its brands and technologies.

TPP will eliminate future competition to Chinese brands in the global market. This is a net benefit to China.

Of course, we have been used to this, you know, I like sanction and restriction more, you know why?

As China economic problem, yeah, we are facing it, China will collapse? wait and see, you have wait for more than 10 years, :coffee:

As to TPP, it is high-level agreement, maybe it is trap, first, it serve America, she is the banker in the game, you know, if want earn money in casino, you should be good in gambling and keep clear, maybe this is not good metaphor, be careful, :coffee:

Thank you for being honest here. We Vietnamese already knew all along why you PDF Chinese commenters are so upset about things like TPP and always comment on US-Asian relations that has nothing to do with China (why would you care about VN-US TPP negotiation?). Its not because you cared about Viet Nam or the global trade dynamics, etc. It doesn’t matter for you guys if TPP is good or bad for Viet Nam.

So why do Chinese PDF members keep commenting? the answer is simply in the red part of your quote, you guys are hateful and can’t accept the fact that many of your neighbouring Asian countries choose to cooperate and have better opinion of the US and other countries than they do with China. And you are hateful and can not accept this reality because you have a misconception that China should be the center of Asia, or even the world, and to see your neighbouring countries cooperate with someone else and have better opinions of someone else is embarrasing and frustrates you. Reality does not align with our dream.

Hence, you guys resort to insults and personal attacks against countries that do decide to cooperate with the US or other countries. Whenever there are threads about US-VN relationship, US-Japan relationship or US-other Asian countries, you guys are always there ready to attack and insult. We can clearly see it is derived from your jealousy and frustration.

It is for the same reason when some members post an achievement of their country or something positive about their country, chinese members will always be quick to jump in the thread and downplay it and talk how China can do better. These behaviour comes from jealousy and a sense that China should be the center of attention here, not Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. It is understandable here on PDF as Pakistan is your friend and you want praise and attention from your friend, this is why I never post anything positive about Vietnam, for the sake of your sensitivity.

I understand your frustration. I will say this, China can one day in the future be the center of attention just like what you are dreaming of. First you just need to change your behaviour. Not a difficult task to do. You don’t need to think hard about your geo-strategic plan, economic plan to achieve this dream. You just need to change change your behaviour and mentality and things will become easier, it is actually quite simple.

@Nihonjin1051 , as a psychologist, what do you think of my opinion on this? or am I off?

Vietnam seek security with China? you do know that Viet Nam is arming up herself against China right? It is also asking the US to remove the arms embargo for the same reason.

Not sure if you have mistyped or just being really delusional.

Nice said, i think this article also support your point, :welcome:. It was nice analysis of Chinese abroad and home land and also abroad patriotism and pacifism and the reverse view compare to Mainland

TTP VS RECEP is just simpelly USA"s Market VS CHinese Market.

however, It is China, instead of USA,that is global largest market in the world today.... china consumes more almost all kinds of products than USA ,form food to steel, from chip to ship, from film to iphones..............in fact, china consumed more concretes in the past 10 years than USS did in the past 100 years.

China now has global largest market, it means that CHina can import more than USA now, it also means that CHIna can provide more carrots than USA,whether TTP is successful or not.

Once TTP becomes USA tools countering CHina, Japan,Vietnam and The phillps would face a simple but hard choice:

USA's Market or CHinese market???

Obama has repeated play the China card while promoting TPP.

Either domestically when speaking to congress, or internationally when speaking to country like Japan.

Therefore it is rather strange to say that TPP has nothing to do with China.

Obviously, Obama would not have agree with that viewpoint when he say that TPP is for preventing China from writing trade rules.

TPP is designed to benefit the MNC. It would hamper developing countries from developing their own MNC to compete with foreign/western MNC.

It would have hurt China, if it is ten years ago, when China has no Huawei, Lenovo, ZTC etc.

But today, I do not think China really care that much eitherway. Because whatever benefit the western MNC would have benefit also Chinese MNC.

But if when TPP is established, I would not be surprise that it would affect the rules of RCEP too.

Obama would have then accomplish what he stated, to write the trade rule.

Somehow, I do not feel the world governed by trade rules that exist mainly to benefit the MNC would be a wonderful world.

Thanks, very interesting article, I agree with it. I have created a thread for this article in case other members are interested in it.

...But the authors also noted a remarkable point: “A strikingly significant proportion of returnees support Chinese foreign policy, regardless of ‘whether it is right or wrong.’ ”...

...Cheng Li, of the Brookings Institution, has noted that, contrary to the myth of “democracy by osmosis”—the notion that simply living in the U.S. will make foreigners more congenial to democratic-liberal ideas—many of the most strident nationalist books in China are written by people who have returned from abroad...

“In China, people often complain. But in America, I want to see the positive side of China. It has something to do with pride, you know; I want to feel proud to be Chinese.”...

The article is correct imo. You can find many example of Chinese members who are exactly like what the article has described.

These Chinese members are living in the US/west or have lived in the west but still continue to talk trash or tell lies about the west. They have a sense of entitlement for praise and attention but don’t receive that attention and sense of belonging in the west so they resent the US/west and go on forums to praise their motherland. And anyone else who see no problem with the west will get attacked or rediculed by these social outcasts.

But I must say this is not true for all foreign Chinese. Those Chinese who can find their place in the west and can fit into their new social settings, they don’t have these kind of attitude that some of these PDF chinese have.

why do you think that being a sellout and assimilating (ie declaration by action that your culture is inferior ) is goos? why do Vietnamese want to be some amorphous model minority getting scraps at the table? you think this is elementary school where you get prizes for "being good "? even blacks and Mexicans get more respect.

Dissapointing response man. I used to think that you were one of the few Chinese member who have a more informed and fair view of the west.

I won’t answer your post. My previous post kinda addressed your post. You’re just simply rediculing and trying to insult those who have found their place in the west or have a positive perspective of the west.

I have even observed this plenty of times in real life between Chinese. Chinese who resent western society attack or insult other Chinese who have found a place in the west as “sell-out”, “white-wash”, “white-worshipper“, etc.

those who discard Chinese culture and replace it with western culture are indeed sellouts. there is no two ways about it. if you believe in western culture alongside Chinese culture, you are not a sellout, but there are parts of culture that simply are mutually exclusive.

unlike many Vietnamese I do my own shit and don't let myself be constrained by stereotypes or fear of not fitting in. that's how an alpha operates. betas seek attention, alphas get it by their actions alone.

No, I’ve seen many young Chinese (from mainland) who have settled down in the west, found their place, not being anti-west/blindly pro-CCP, yet still keep thier Chinese identity (and being proud of it).

I think I’ll stop the conversation here as you are beginning to use personal attacks.

For Vietnam side, the TTP is not mainly on their economic consideration, Vietnam seek politics and diplomacy.

Vietnam's politics is not stable, we can observe it clearly, inflation, income-gap, values divergences, etc. Vietnam govt try their all efforts to make the political shift stably and peacefully. Hope the outcome will be well. The Vietnam govt's dilemma will also continue, it depends on if they want to give up authority.

Diplomacy, I guess every a Vietnamese member here can feel lonely, even cruelly helpless diplomatic relationship in 1976-1990. In order to avoid such difficulty happen again, Vietnam eagerly seek a new model of diplomacy. TTP provide this chance to Vietnam, where they can talk on the same table.
