Cats aren't good at anything, if they were I would post some threads. I love all animals but I love dogs more.
They are the most useless animal fundamentally. House cats.
Im not a cat person. I've tried.

Please answer what you mean by "anything".
and please read the first part of post# 6.
But dogs kill cats and kill by torture. How can you ignore this ?? How can you say that you love dogs more after this ??
You still haven't given us one point of usefulness of a cat except that it gives joy and makes one peaceful.
Ailuromancy took a decidedly nasty turn, however, in a ritual known as the taghairm, practiced in Scotland throughout the Middle Ages and up through the 16th century CE.
A person would take cat and roast it alive over an open flame, turning it on a spit. The cat would scream in agony and this would summon the devil to protect one of his own. The devil would plead with the person to end the cat’s suffering but the person would hold out until the devil had promised to fulfil a certain request – often some prediction of the future – at which time the cat would be put out of its misery.

Peaceful is your addition but I agree with it.
I had mainly meant is cats make us gentle and wiser. Imagine if in India all those 35+ million stray dogs are replaced with cats. The people will internalize the attributes of the cat. Society will become gentler and wiser. Is this not enough ??
This was understood by many societies in the past, whether Egypt, whether Japan.
But in medieval Europe, before and after the exit of Muslims from there, cats were hated by the Church and it created a evil atmosphere. One example is this :
And look at this picture ( painting ) from the same article that describes the evil thought during those times :

And once I got to know from TV that there was a religious ceremony in Belgium I think where cats were taken to a window high up in a church tower and ceremoniously thrown down to the ground.
The nature really wants to ged rid of poor koalas.More than 100 sick or injured koalas have been found in bushfire-ravaged parts of Australia by a dog named Bear and a team of experts since last summer.
The five-year-old Australian koolie dog has been on the ground since November trying to detect surviving koalas in parts of NSW and Queensland which were devastated by bushfires.
Bear is part of the University of the Sunshine Coast Detection Dogs for Conservation team which has been working with the International Fund for Animal Welfare and local wildlife groups to look for koalas known to live in areas impacted by the fires and rescue them.
USC uses a drone equipped with a thermal camera to locate koalas in trees and then Bear is sent in to use his sense of smell to find them. The team of experts asses the koalas and take them into care if necessary.

The 2019-20 bushfire season was Bear's first deployment onto a fire ground but his handler never doubted his ability.
"We've worked in areas post-fire with other dogs, and they were able to smell their target odours, so it didn't surprise me that Bear could do it," Dr Romane Cristescu told AAP.
"The catastrophic landscape is really hard for us, but for Bear it's an opportunity for him to be out and play and do what he likes doing."
Most of the koalas found were near the Two Thumbs Wildlife Sanctuary in the NSW alpine region, Nerriga in the southern tablelands and Kandanga in Queensland's Gympie region.
Despite the bushfire season ending in March, the team is still out on the field searching for sick or injured koalas.

"We're still finding animals that are struggling to find food. They're on the edge of starvation," Dr Cristescu said.
"If we find them, wildlife carers can plump them up. Their goal is to release them when and where they have a better chance of having food available to them."
Dr Cristescu acknowledges the bushfire emergency might be out of everyone's minds now but for koalas, it's not over.
Many areas of land which were badly burnt haven't recovered and vegetation has not grown back.
"Some places have burnt so much for such a wide area, some species may take decades to recover," she said.
The USC Detection Dogs for Conservation researcher said the devastating bushfire season left her team in shock, but being able to go into the fire grounds and help was a healing process for them.
IFAW wildlife campaigner Josey Sharrad said Bear brought the team hope during the devastation.

"He found koalas despite all those harrowing conditions. That brought us hope," she told AAP.
IFAW earlier this year released a report which found more than 6000 koalas died in last summer's bushfires across NSW. They called for an emergency listing of koalas as endangered, to make sure the marsupial is protected as the population starts to recover.
"We don't want people to move on so quickly from the bushfire emergency," she said.
"Every koala we can track, rescue and rehab counts to the future survival of species."
IFAW and USC are also working on research looking into how resilient the species are in the hope they can help more koalas survive in the next fire season.

You have no problem with cats killing other animals. But dogs are bad because they kill cats
Gentle? Wise?
Have you seen a cat hunting?
Killing a mouse?
It plays with it.
Why is that ok in your books and a dog killing a cat is not?
The other two answers are absolutely correct and I agree with them, but I’d like to add on two things!
Cats, assuming you just mean the family of cats, felines, etc. are ambush hunters and do not have much endurance or stamina (Tip: if you’re chasing a cat, just walk at a decent pace trailing the cat- it will run out of energy way faster than you and you can eventually tire them out. Humans are endurance runners.) but what they do have is a TON of speed and precision. Those wild videos of tigers and cheetahs catching prey highlight their grace and methodical hunting.
That being said, they must learn that skill from somewhere. Natural instinct will drive them to chase and catch, but not necessarily kill. Tiger mamas will often injure a small animal and bring it back to her cubs, letting them try to finish off the weakened animal. This teaches them basic survival skills.
Another thing is that these animals are not completely defenseless against cats- yes, bigger animals can fight back, but smaller ones play dead and make their escape in a blink of an eye. Seeing a cat constantly tapping at a string is hilarious, but it’s basically to check if it’s really dead. A lot of the time, the animal springs back to life and the cat pounces again, giving an illusion of playing, but it’s just trying to finish off the mouse / bird / just die already I thought I jumped on you
Lastly, there’s no ruling out that cats just like to have fun. Even domestic cats who are able to hunt recognize that toys are not food but still go through their intense process of waiting, stalking, and pouncing as a vent for their wild instincts and energy.

Most of us suspect he is not being truthful about the real reason of his hate.
But we've grown to like and accept him for what he says he is.
1. Cats "play" with mice / rats to tire out the prey and prevent them from biting the cat. Your vid shows the cat hitting the mouse from a distance. I have seen a vid which has two cats hitting a snake from a distance too. The snake had a swollen belly and had probably eaten a kitten and these two cats were probably taking revenge. Your vid jumps and doesn't show the asphyxiating part.
2. Cats "play" with mice / rats because they still have a wild hunting instinct and need practice for the next time. And found this on Quora :
3. Dog packs kill cats by biting deep into the belly for a long time, with the cat making a sad, disappointed and agonized sound. Do the dogs care ?? Whereas cats kill by asphyxiating the prey. Dogs kill cats for fun and like you mentioned in that special thread, dogs perhaps see these cats as leopard babies who will grow up to eat dogs so these dogs want to take pre-emptive action.
Cats, other than their inherent properties, were also revered by the ancient humans for protection against disease borne by rats / mice ( please read my mention in previous post about the Plague in Europe ) and also places like libraries also reared cats to protect books and other items from being damaged by rats / mice. In Russia the Hermitage Museum has cats.
Please read above reply to padamchen.
Please explain.
Well, thank you.
So cats still wild.
Why then dogs paltu?
Yes, the dogs are paltu but I didn't understand your post.
I have many times seen. Male cats kill babies of other cats. I have seen headless bodies of small cats killed by male cats. Why they kill them?
If house cats are still wild.
Then so are domestic dogs.
It's simple evolutionary biology.
Do you believe in evolution?
Wonder, nature is.They have very tough gums and digestive organs. They are cud chewers so they get two or more chances to chew their food. They have a four chambered stomach that can handle roughage like tree bark so a rosebush is pretty much light o'rdeurves to them.
Yes, I believe in evolution, though I wonder about things like how some scrub land trees have thorns on them to prevent goats from eating the leaves from these trees, and then how goats get around this by, I quote google :
Wonder, nature is.
About wildness in cats, the cat is wild in the sense that it is its own master and lives with its human companions voluntarily ( which it need not ) but also goes out for hunt where the hunting skills are ancient continued.
About wildness in dogs, I agree with you that domesticated dogs also have wild instinct in the sense that they need a leader - a human now in case of house dogs. Among other dog types like wolves I suppose there will be a leader in those wolves who are not solitary.
