It is a catch 22 situation. One needs to keep the price down as most of JFT's potential buyers would consider costs as a major factor in acquisition. If the cost goes above 40-50 million per platform, it becomes unaffordable to most of its potential buyers. the second reason is what would be the expectations of a country like Nigeria or Myanmar? Do they actually need an AESA as a must?Make the rumors about block 3 happen ! Then anything else will be possible #
I suspect Block 3 would be important form the PAFs perspective and also from the perspective of a few nations but most countries would be happy having a Block 2 with BVR capabilities. At least this is my reading into the situation.
