Does religion make Muslims more violent?

I dont like the title of this thread.

i would call the title good enough. :)

Call it one of the most peaceful religion.
We're equally peaceful you know. :)

i purposely used the term "peace-making"... "peaceful" can be a religion despite its inherent cruel structure/laws... for example, despite hebrewism being along the semitic path to islam, it has inherent violence and cruelty... "peace-making" it is not. :)

. .
All Abrahamic religion are violent. But I see reformed Abrahamic religion good.

Muslim is not essentially violent. The Ahmadya is peaceful. Iran is peaceful and Shia do not anyhow call Jihad.

.
excellent post.

if anything, islam is the most peace-making and democratic of the older religions, respecting neither cultural mores nor family hierarchy nor mysticism, but looking only at resolving and preventing disputes so that life is made easier... islam may not be complete for the future but it was the most complete when compared to other older religions.

there are practical laws in islam ranging from divorce ( personal comfort ) to prohibition of interest-based loans ( social justice )... these form the real islam, not celebrating festivals or mourning or banging the forehead while praying in a mosque.

those claimers of muslim fellowship who do violence obviously are only following wrong non-islami cultural ideas and their own criminal tendencies... but i also blame the western governments who purposely project these criminals as "muslim"... whenever bbc wants to show palestine, they show post-2007 gaza filled with burqa/mullah types, never they show normal muslims in the "west bank" part.

as an aside, that photo describes a ridiculous trend among some muslim ladies presently... calling themselves "muslimah"... what the hell does that mean??

another ridiculous modern trend is of saying "jazak allah khair".
Muslimah, meaning a female Muslim, actually i like it being an Islamic feminist i think they should have their own identity, cuz a Mullah friend of mine once said, Muslim is a man, hence the Quran directly talks to only men, and talks to women through men, i.e talks to them as secondary beings,
i was like WTF man? the word is "Ya Ai u Hal Lazina Aamano" which means "O You who believe"
so it naturally includes all the believing women also
and also Jazak Allah Khair seems nice

Muslim countries have an average of 2.4 murders per annum per 100,000 people: statistics . PHOTO: AFP

Any discussion on terrorism, almost always circles back to the widespread belief that Muslims are more violent because of their religion, Vox reported.

Although these conversations may always circle back to the bigoted question of whether religion makes Muslims more violent, they lack data and evidence to attribute violent behavior to Muslims.

According to UC-Berkeley Professor M Steven Fish, people in Muslim majority countries actually tend to be significantly less violent, judging by murder rates.

I don't think any religion at its core preaches hatred and violence. But I think the problem here is with Muslims who've interpreted Islam in a violent way and have resulted in becoming Al-Qaeda, ISIS and the likes.

I know people from pretty much all religions and I don't think there is a difference in how all of them look at a normal daily life, i.e. to work hard, raise children and a family, take stress as parents and provide better education for their children, better housing, better food and clothes and work hard in turning their children into successful, prosperous adults and then seeing them married with kids. I think that's one thing all of us human's cherish and share in common, that is a life that brings unlimited amounts of opportunity to all of us, it allows us to become better towards each other as well as become better individually and help the others.

But then you have criminals, religious nut cases and terrorists, these people are a few in number and their daily life has nothing to do with the above paragraph. These people don't like peace, stability, hard working civilians and happy families. These basterds will kill and destroy anything that comes in their way, whether for a religious cause or due to hate towards successful, peace loving people.

if you cannot form sensible words, leave the thread.
I gave my opinion as Non-Muslim and that is how the world sees it mostly after so many terror attacks on other Religions and Countries.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to disagree,i cannot change my opinion to suit your liking.
This is what Apologists do,they try to make the other person change their viewpoint to suit their Apologist stance, instead of looking inside them as to what went wrong and trying to rectify it.
As long as you remain in Denial that "All is Well" Then nobody can help you,Neither is the world going to change their opinion about you.

I think muslims 're equally peaceful but what makes me queasy is when somebody tries to prove that their religion is better than the rest, whether its islam, christianity or others.

I agree with you. Frankly speaking I had a debate with one of your country men a few days ago on here, where he said many times that converting minorities in India was Lord Ram's work and it is a Hindu country and they will keep doing it. And who is the world to question the mighty Hindus.....what do you make out of that? Please shed some light and your views on it.

My bad!
I read the word as peaceful.
But still your post would make Islam the most "peace-making" religion. Isnt it??

I am not resonsible for what every hindu posts on this forum. Show me one of my posts which says something similar.

That's not really true.
We are not talking about misinterpretation of religious texts here.

.
sikhism is the youngest... and i was only making a technical point.

Sikhism is the only significant new religion born after Islam. By numbers.

I too was merely making a technical point, by refuting yours. Which is Islam being one of the older religions.

To stretch a point, neither is Christianity. Its just older than Islam.

Muslimah, meaning a female Muslim, actually i like it being an Islamic feminist i think they should have their own identity,

then they are only being defensive by using that word... they should evolve better ways of talking. :)

for years i used to say "i am not sunni, i am not shia, i am just a muslim".

now i am tired of all religious talk. ( @levina ).

cuz a Mullah friend of mine once said, Muslim is a man, hence the Quran directly talks to only men, and talks to women through men, i.e talks to them as secondary beings,
i was like WTF man?

yes... what an idiot...

the word is "Ya Ai u Hal Lazina Aamano" which means "O You who believe"
so it naturally includes all the believing women also

and also Jazak Allah Khair seems nice

well, it seems artificial.
