Does PAF need (Strategic) Bombers?

I agree that PAF does not need heavy bombers. Maintenance cost and operational requirement of PAF does not make heavy bombers feasible. We do however need modern ground attack fighters with precision munitions to take out targets with accuracy.

I don't know if you guys agree with me or not sounds logical to me We need atleast 40-50 jh-7 with better avionics package and better engines for ground attack as well for Naval role.

i guss, its realy not needed that we should go for 40-50 jh-7 , my point is that we should have some of (Strategic) Bombers! which means just 1 or 2.. not more than that.

Sir batman i do know wut this thread is about and wut u were asking and wut i asked...difference is there btw strategic bombers and fighter bombers..what is the purpose of 1-2 strategic bombers?i do not see any use in my opinion thou i respect your opinion..rather i would invest in 10-15 jf-17s than investing in 1-2 strategic bombers, or even better buy better radars/equiptments from Germans for PAF.

i think in the present situation Pakistan needs a weapon for precision bombing like UAV's like Predators are doing, why i say precision bombing is that we dont need to carry out carpet bombing because the whole area is not filled with terrorists, yes there are terrorists but they are residing within the civilain population of many areas.

so the option for heavy bombers to carry out carpet bombings is rulled out in my view, i think wut we should ask US is to give us in their so called aid, UAV's, advanced attack helicopters and helicopters for reconaisance purposes all to be used in the tribal region.

but still amreicans cant make it accurte, so how come we can?
UAV's we can purchase, from others too, with a little less capabalities, but still we cant make them , accurt?

we don't need bombers they are disasterous but slow heavy so interceptors will destroy them easily but i agree for AC130 it is gud for places like swat mountanious region..
b-52 ............. no need we have ballistic missiles nuclear or non nuclear to target enemy terroritry . rite now we shud order or join with china to make stealth air superiority fighter like fc-20.

for a country like our it is a straight forward NO to strategic bombers!

they are expensive, maintainance nightmare and for a low budget airforce like ours it will be a disastor to induct them!

moreover the fact is that we do not need them! fighter bombers, yes! we can convert or deidicate a squadron or two of JF17 and mirages for ground attack role, able to fire cruise missiles and precision bombs, we must develop armed UAV for that precesion strike element against terrorist and for carpet bombing or massive destruction role we have missiles, must get rocket systems like the A100 from china and better invest the bomber money on a better air superiority fighter jet like JF17 and J10!

ya im in favour for puchasing bombers like tu-22 or tu-160 or from china.not for india,our air force inshallah handle them with multiroll aircrafts.but i want bombers for those which they r bouncing on their chairs for ruling world like Israeal and Usa.we need bombers for long range attacks on their bases

Its actually just my oppinion if our relations with US going better we should go for F16 along with F15 + B52 bomber ahem ahem i am sure India nay UN ko pagal kardena hey hahahhahaha

Bombers are a thing of the past now, the world has moved on to Multirole aircraft, why buy bombers, interceptors and attack aircraft when you can get that all for the price of one ? Even America stopped production of the B-2.
But if you want to bomb a target indiscriminately,ie:carpet bombing, then you will need something with a HUGE bomb bay, say a B-52, which is out of the question.
Another thing, bombers cannot defend themselves, they need escort aircraft, this puts additional aircraft and pilots at risk.
As for the war on terror, I would say close air support aircraft like the Fairchild Republic A-10 would be ideal for such a war.
One A-10 carries enough bang to give any terrorist nightmares.
It would also help take some load off the cobras.
