The reason why we don't have startegic bombers as they are very expensive to both buy and maintain plus stealth fighters can do this job somewhat.im surprised that we still do not have strategic bombers which is a big hole for a country seeking nuclear triad capability, B-2 spirt costs 1 billion dollar per unit the Russians are making they're own stealth bomber would it be feasible to develop a stealth bomber with Israel seeing we could both use them since we have strategic values to look out for and neighboring belligerent countries?
not in europe or USA, but then again having a aircraft that can obliterate terror training camps and houses of most wanted terrorists in other countries that are a threat to your nation is not bad at all
I have always advocated a squad of dedicated bombers for Strategic Command in place of 40 Fighter bombers they are planning to get...
Tu-22M is a very good option...
My answer would be yes... India does require a stealth bomber in its fleet of elite aircrafts...the strategic location of India clearly suggests the fact that it is strangled by both pakistan and china from 2 sides and knowing the fact that China had already developed their stealth bomber the Xiang X-6I and a prototype Xian X-8 the upgrade of X-6I is on cards for the PRC. India would defenitely need to counter that stuff..so, this increases the need of a full strategic stealth bomber for us... As far as the fundings are concerned they are not a matter of much concern as we can clearly see that India has already given a go ahead for the $10.1 billion deal for the MRCA and it intends to spend $100 billion this decade on defence.. Hence, the importance and need of B-2 like bomber is clearly justified...
No country export strategic weapons like bombers, nuclear submarines or aircraft carriers. So, if India intends to develop a bomber, it has to do it by itself with the help of some country - maybe Russia or Israel. But I don't know, it could be a waste of money if you ask me. A Rafale for example is capable of delivering nukes.
When 80% of my country's people live under Rs 20 a day then we dont need a $2 bil plane
To all those Who think India does not have bombers...What does the The Indian Navy's 312 Squadron do??? Research on it guys...Its a strategic Bomber Squadron...
