I think here 'actions are judged by their intentions' principal is going to apply; if you were spewing venom against the Prophet - You'd be charged with blasphemy after your day in court, of course !
But of course, if you're going to delve into the nuances of the blasphemy law & the whole discussion surrounding it, I suggest you talk to a Jurist or a Lawyer from Pakistan who looks at it ever so closely than the rest of us !
What is Justice ? What is 'right' or 'wrong' ?
I never said freedom & equal respect should be given to all religions; we don't think that any of the other religions are 'correct' & quite conspicuously so ! What I said was - Equal Rights & Privileges for all, that is, all citizens of the State !
Likewise if venom is being spewed against any other religion - It must be dealt with severely & decisively !
And no I don't think Sharia will create an 'equal' society; we don't place Islam & the rest on the same pedestal ! We think the Sharia will create an equatable society as per our world view.
We don't prescribe to the same notions of 'enlightenment' as the rest of the world does ! We believe adultery to be a social evil that rips the very fabric of society; therefore if it is committed it must be hushed up but if it revealed to the rest of the society beyond reasonable doubt then...yes - Carry out the prescribed punishment !
I never talked about 'all faiths being equal'; however I do not know what the prescribed punishment for this is or if there is such a prohibition or not ! If there is - Fine...do it !
This is your idea of being different from the Taliban?
The only difference is that the Taliban will enact the prescribed punishment on mere suspicion and do so in a messy manner with stoning or AK-47s.
You on the other hand will also prescribe the same punishment but only after "due process" in a court- you'll require a higher standard of proof- that's all.
So you believe that one religion is greater than the other- wish to adjudicate on the basis of said religion and think that is remotely a good idea.
You're going to argue about right or wrong here, you seriously cannot see how those two terms apply to what you believe in?
The only difference between this and what the Taliban preach is that a court will hand out the same punishment and you'll get a lawyer, unlike the Taliban you will not kill anyone for simply practicing another faith but their faith is still inferior to yours. You're just a more suave, less messy, more sophisticated version of the Taliban with a few differences (I guess you're cool with girls going to school) but god forbid one of them engages in premarital sex that's the end of her.
Lets end this yaara, I started it so this might sound disingenuous but lets end this exchange.
