i was saying that i have seen thread like these turning into a India Pakistan contest..and the members of both the side start bashing each other..and the thread gets derailed...but I still think its a nice attempt and will surely contribute to it positively wherever possible...thanks for this thread.

thanks - i hail from punjab as well so feel close to pak a lot...and I truely truely truely truely wish that this gets solved once and for all..else i am not sure what kind of world we all will be giving our children...

simple answer - no

the main issue is Kashmir which is not all going to b solved untill the end of this world

the problem if only b solved either india surrender kashmir or pakistan renounce the claim of kashmir

we all know both r not going to happen because either way the govt of both nations will b doomed if any of the accepted the above stance

1) Actually free n fair elections in Kashmir can decide this. Have a referundm there who wish to join with which country? and divide the parts of kashmir just like the Indo-Pak partitian took place back in 1947.

2) Or the second option is give the Muslim majority areas of Kashmirs to Pakistan :smitten: and keep Hindu or Budhist areas that is because the Muslim Majority arreas are the only one who protest in Kashmir for Azaadi azadi etc.

The Azad Kashmir in Pakistan or the areas in gilgit Baltistan are all Muslims and under the control of Pakistan. Now next is Kashmir valley which is 90% + Muslims. Jammu and Ladakh has a mixed community so little migration from here and there can sort these matters out for good.

Now its a bit unacceptable for both countries but probably thats the only two possible solutions in my mind

If you are from Punjab then you would be knowing that punjabis do want this issue to gt resolved...I too have friends and some far away relatives in Pakistan as well...if the problem gets resolved..it will only bring good times..nothing less...but to b frank..my answer to your question will be.... A NO ! it will not be resolved. :frown:

i still have IMMENSE and utmost respect for soldiers - both sides of the border...coz they knowingly die for the country with sc***d up systems...and not solving this issue...those families sacrifice their lives for leaders who deserve to be held answerable for unable to solve the problems...

Mind u - as i am on LOC - i talk for both the countries here !!!

My servant maid's son joined in Pakistan Military, he does not take care of his parents, he is a good for nothing, he joined military because he cannot get a ' better job'. I knew him as a child and I know that he cannot be commited sincerely to ANY cause.

A LOT of people in the US join military not because they are patriotic, but because of the fringe benefits and higher-than-normal compensation. Infact, I saw an ad in the univ where i am doing my MBA and the ad was requesting people to do Nursing and let US Army pay the FULL FEES + Bonus. All they have to do join Army after they are done with their degree. At the very end, there was a line about serving your country. I would respect a Govt. Doctor or a school teacher MUCH more than a soldier.

i want to only comment on the 1st solution suggestd by u - let them decide on which country they wnt to go to......kashmiri pandits were chased out of kashmir long back...so is it justified with the remaining now? if it was done long back it was just...not now...

No

Because India wants to dominate and undermine Pakistan. This is not the problem of India but Hinditua mindset and this is going to be in conflict with Muslim mindset as long as one of them dies off completely which is unlikely.

without getting into details of 'why's' of it - i will say i disagree...but each to their own...i just feel that those innocent people give up their lives protecting all civilians...least we can do is give them respect...

Whatever discussion we have here end of the day noting is going to happen unless our leaders do not take action

We have been discussing about this issue since past many decades but nothing practical comes out

a) 400,000 Hindus were ethnically cleansed off of Kashmir. What makes you think they will agree for an election?

b) Indians are working REALLY hard so that the act forbidding people from other parts of India to go settle in kashmir is repealed. If that's done a LOT of externals will go settle down in Kashmir, do you think a free-fair election will still be possible?

2) Or the second option is give the Muslim majority areas of Kashmirs to Pakistan :smitten: and keep Hindu or Budhist areas that is because the Muslim Majority arreas are the only one who protest in Kashmir for Azaadi azadi etc.

You think this is possible when a LOT of Indian parties want Pakistan invaded and merged back into India? =D

I agree..a lot depends on the political will of both the sides.:coffee:

They protect civilians against whom? the protectors of other country's civilians. If my gang has guns and your gang has guns and many people are dying in shootouts, should I as a good leader, preach disarmament or respect for guns? Yes, the gun that I respect 'protects' me, but that need wouldn't have arisen but for YOUR gun. It's commonsensical that both of us need to condemn and abandon guns. Replace gangs with nations and replace guns with army. There you have my perspective.

no zaki - i disagree...one of us could be the future leader for our respective countries...or in a position where we can influance...if not our today..."healthy" discussions like this can make a better future for both...if not us...our children can reap the results ...

that is what rahul gandhi is doing very cleverly...he is training the youth...cleaning it from the bottom...i dont think i will see the result of what he is doing in my living life...but i am sure generations to come will have a better india to live in - as he is getting the youth of today to lead our tomorrow...

the answer is NO.. Kashmir and water issues are just covers. the main reason according to me is Pakistanis view India as a Hindu nation(not a secular one) and its a land where Muslims(whom they consider as brothers even though they say they were not of Indian race) are tortured brutally. Indians view Pakistan as a terrorist nation which always work behind the screen to destabilize India.

so there is no chance for any resolving ****....
