Ever since the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Act, protests have taken the country by storm. Sloganeering, poetry, music, posters have become the chosen mediums for protesters on both sides.

Amidst the ongoing turmoil, a disturbing video has surfaced which shows the involvement of children at a BJP rally. The unverified video shows two boys, donning BJP caps, joyously walking and chanting slogans such as,

“Desh ke gaddaro ko, goli maaro saalo ko!”

“ Aatankwaad ki kya pehchaan? Mulla, Masjid, Pakistan!”


Social media users expressed shock and disbelief at the sight of children reciting hate slogans.

Frankly it's nothing new for me...
It's most common for kids in UP (where I live) to say such genocidal one liners.
My first encounter was my family friend's son aged 12, who was enjoying news on mob lynching and was even muttering - 'maaro sale mullo ko' along with his 'parents'

The disturbing video is a new low in the public discourse around anti-Citizenship protest. It is horrifying to see kids, at a tender age, being taught to hate a particular community.

Hatred breeds more hatred. Children – the future of our country, should be protected from vile and hate, for their sake and the sake of the country.

It is the responsibility of the parents to allow them the liberty to form their own opinions as they grow up or expose them to the whole picture and let them decide for themselves.

Hindutva should tread with caution. It has made outright enemies out of 200 million Pakistanis, 200 million Indian Muslims, 10 million kashmiri Muslims, not to mention the sizeable restive populations in Assam and a significant minority of Indian Hindus and other noteworthy and honourable groups of non-Muslims who oppose Hindutva.

You're right that Pakistan has no control over the fate of India's Muslims, however, the carving up of Hindustan to create Pakistan in 1947 is a blueprint that they may well consider referring to. Alternatively, the Mughal era also kept Hindu mob rule mentality in complete check. I would advise my Indian Muslim friends to consider these two options.

You can only see the life in Pakistan through Indian media's eyes.. Your media covers a dog killing incident in Pakistan but doesn't cover the countless Indian Muslims going through the communal violence.

• Pakistani security forces do not enter houses and destroy the property..
• They do not conduct mass killings.. there are no mass graves found in Pakistan unlike India.
• They do not conduct mass rapes.. unlike in India about which there are stories circulating all over internet.
• They do not stop Hindus or christians from using a designated place for burial or kiryakaram, unlike in India where Muslims have to bury their loved ones inside their houses
