The Crime Minister has been instructed by his 40 thieves to dissolve NAB. Very smart, rather than fight individual cases, they'll just wipe the whole institution investigating them out and prosectute the staff.

PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday told the newly-elected government, which is being led by his party's president, Shehbaz Sharif, to dissolve the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and hold its employees accountable.

"NAB's employees looted and tortured people for years. It's time they should be held accountable," he said at a media talk in Islamabad today morning.

Abbasi came down on the chairman of the bureau, accusing him of "being fully under control" of PTI Chairman and former PM Imran Khan. "He used to take instructions [from the previous government]."

He claimed that there was a minister in Imran Khan's office who used to issue orders to the NAB chief regarding lodging fake cases, arresting people and defaming them. "This is your NAB chairman ... who stayed quiet on Imran Khan's corruption," the PML-N leader added.

He also lamented that NAB couldn't prove a single reference or inquiry against PML-N leaders in the last four years. "Why didn't they investigate people who were involved in corruption worth billions [of rupees] and were sitting in the federal cabinet," Abbasi demanded.

Now, he announced, was time to hold NAB accountable. "We are not taking revenge from anyone. We just want to expose the reality of NAB in front of the public. Accountability exists in the country but if you want to indulge in corruption, go to NAB," Abbasi said.

He also revealed that the government would move courts for the installation of cameras inside NAB courts so that the "public knows who is actually involved in corruption".

"We won't arrest anyone. Weak people like the NAB chairman will be the first person to arrested Imran Khan's people. But this is not our way," Abbasi pointed out, adding that the PML-N had always maintained its honour and respect in politics.

Whatever happened in the last four years, he reiterated, would be kept in front of the public.

. . .
It’s a crap department of whose only solid purpose is to harass and victimise any opposition. Whoever is in government can easily use it to conduct all sorts of frivolous and extreme measures against opposing parties.

Kar do dissolve, it's waste of public funds like other corrupt institutions and courts. But fire all employees without any benefits instead of adjusting pawns in other departments.

TBH, NAB is pretty pointless.

I have seen first hand people who get absolutely ruined by NAB over 100,000, and that too when they haven't even done the crime, and the main culprit has run abroad.

The NAB prosecutor admits that hamaray pas koi case nhn hai, magr aap plea bargain kar lain, hamaray record main recovery ajaye gi and we will let you go free.

It takes 15 months to get bail from the courts as well, and baki zalalat alehda.

But then who would look into actual corruption cases? The mega scandals?

Sindh government is all about corruption. What about them?

You cannot become 1st world until you value absolute accountability. 1 step forward, 2 steps backwards for Pakistan every damn time.

Why does it have to be corrupts, why can't it be new clean politicians who are all ready to be accountable.

FIA? The FIA needs to be restructured desparately, and become a force that can actually tackle white collar crime and crimes of the modern world.

FIA needs to stop being a social media police cum immigration clerk and actually focus itself towards high profile crime and misappropriations.

Don't expect anything from NAB, it's just one more department full of stooges and leaches sucking country dry.

Name one department in Pakistan where this doesn't apply?

Hard to find any, but it’s sole purpose is this. It’s use against corruption is entirely secondary. The constitutional institutions each have defined roles, this one is not among them. And as for anti corruption, this area is already covered by multiple other agencies - and better agencies I might add.
