What's new

Dilip Kumar’s home declared national heritage

Well you can claim him as an Indian if you like because he was an ethnic Indian. Still, he only associated himself with Pakistan like the maharajah of Bhopal, so we have no reason to doubt his Pakistaniat. Dilip on the other hand, was never an "Indian", just like Fardeen Khan is not an "Indian".

No no..

We do not want to ' claim' him to be Indian for more reasons than one. Tell me , how about the other Mohajirs ? Are they Indian or Pakistani ?

Bhopal never had a Maharaja, what are you trying to say ?

Just for the record, anyone who lives in India and swears by the Indian constitution, salutes the national flag, sings the national anthem and abides with Indian law is / can be an Indian.

. .
The Kapoors or the uber tacky SRK both, couldn't care less about their "ancestral" properties in Pakistan. The very mention of it makes them giggle like a bunch of teenage girls.

Well Fardeen Khan's and Dilip Kumar's passport is valid for Israel. Now that means SOMETHING:D

Bhopal was the capital of a princely state. It was founded by a Pashtun mercenary who took over Mangalgarh state from solanki rajputs and gonds. The royal family all migrated to Pakistan and were given much respect. And you have a point. Still, I believe they can't be called purely Indian.

The facts are :

Bhopal State was an independent state of 18th century India, a princely salute state in a subsidiary alliance with British India from 1818 to 1947, and an independent state from 1947 to 1949.

Islamnagar served as the State's first capital, which was later shifted to the city of Bhopal.

The state was founded by Dost Mohammad Khan, an Afghan soldier in the Mughal army who became a mercenary after the Emperor Aurangzeb's death and annexed several territories to his feudal territory. It came under the suzerainty of the Nizam of Hyderabad shortly after its foundation in 1723.

In 1737, Marathas defeated the Mughals in the Battle of Bhopal, bringing Bhopal under Maratha rule. The city remained under Maratha suzerainty until the Third Anglo-Maratha War in 1818, when Bhopal became a British princely state.

Bhopal State was the second largest state in pre-independence India, with a Muslim leadership, first being Hyderabad State.

The state was merged into the Union of India in 1949 as Bhopal.

Yeah, so what did I say?

.
the pakistani actually has a point here.

I did not know Dilip Kumar's real name was Yusuf khan. If that is the case, that does make him pakistani.

How can having a Muslim name make a man a Pakistani ?

In that case India has 350 million Pakistanis.

Read this & then comment :

Dilip Kumar was born Yusuf Khan into a Hindko-speaking Awan family of 12 children on 11 December 1922 in theQissa Khawani Bazaar area of Peshawar, in what is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. His father, Lala Ghulam Sarwar, was a fruit merchant who owned orchards in Peshawar and Deolali (in Maharashtra, India).

Dilip Kumar did schooling from prestigious Barnes School,Deolali, near Nasik.

In the late 1930s, his family of 12 members relocated to Mumbai. Around 1940, Dilip Kumar left home for Pune where he started his career as a canteen owner and a dry fruit supplier.

In 1943, actress Devika Rani, who owned Bombay Talkies spotted Dilip Kumar in Aundh military canteens Pune, and cast him with a lead role in the film Jwar Bhata (1944), which marked Dilip Kumar's entry into the Hindi film industry.

Hindi author Bhagwati Charan Varma gave him the screen name Dilip Kumar. It is believed that Dilip Kumar can speak a number of languages, including English, Hindi, Urdu, Hindko, and Pashto.

Yeah, so what did I say?
