Difference between brahmos and yakhont?

i have seen, many guys says that brahmos is the copy of yakhont.
is it correct??if not then what are the differences b/w them??

Its just the short range version of yakhont... india wanted the longer ranged one... but russia couldnt sign it coz of MCTR(hope i spelt it right) treaty....... so intead if tht they gave india the shorter version.

Its same , we only repainted it and gave new name. Even kid can tell just by looking at pic.

Yakhont and Mos are pretty much the same.

Brahmos is faster and can be launched from more platforms.

By looks they must be pretty much the same, since Brahmos is based on the Yakhont missile, while the differences are mainly inside! Brahmos has less range which is caused by changes at the fuel/propulsion system and has Indian computer and navigation systems. The frame and the propulsion will be produced in India under licence, since they are the main Russian parts but the rest is different, that's why Russia offers not only the range limited Yakhont on export markets, but Brahmos too. Compare it with the MKI, same airframe like other Su 30 MKs, but with many internal differences and licence produced in India.

i am surprised at the level of ignorance here about BrahMos... in case you all forgot the guidance system on the BrahMos was designed by the DRDO while the propulsion systems are based of the Yakhnot Russian design but lets not forget the ramjet technology was perfected so the BrahMos could fly low and supersonic speeds
