So we have greater dependence on China than India, which reinforces my original point that we are far from Indian hegemony.

Is India able to meet all our demands for foreign products and services at a competitive price? Things we import from China can't be imported from India or at least at a competitive price. So how can it stop us from procuring Chinese products? Or do you imply that India is able to do so but refrain from because according to you it's not a hegemon?

The difference between earlier times during Muslim rule and now is that Muslims were militarily dominant back then and today we have a Hindu Ram Rajya wannabe super power who have just elected a Hindutva RSS extremist as PM. Even during previous congress period, RAW's strategy was to use Bangladeshi Hindu's to further Indian interest and keep Hasina and AL in power, I think that policy will not only continue, but Hindu's of Bangladesh will become further infused and emboldened with this Hindutva ideology, as it is the ideology of ruling political party in India. All this will create resentment against Hindu's among Bangladeshi Muslims which does not bode well for future communal harmony. Hopefully the wise among Hindu leaders will not become too involved with RAW and become their pawns to further Indian interest. But the other difficult part is that educated and rich Hindu leaders are open to earning money and making a house or two in Kolkata, so the entire family can move there, when things get uncomfortable in Bangladesh. So this makes it easier for them to make risky moves and not care about how people in Bangladesh may feel about Hindu's in the long term.

Its not just the Hindu's, all the rich big business people and industrialists came to an understanding with India to not to go against Indian interest, because for them too Bangladesh is a temporary place to make a quick buck and then move to Canada when things get unsafe.

As for BKZ, the BNP wallas swear that BKZ made the right decision to not participate, but I have seen many neutral people make the same argument as you are making, that BKZ made a mistake not pariticipating. Personally I am not sure how it would have turned out and it really does not matter now. BNP, BKZ and Tareque are pretty much finished, this part I agree with you that we have entered a long period of dictatorship by Hasina, probably till she becomes too weak to hold power. The Zia family, even late Zia himself was never very bright, it is his and his wife's many mistakes that doomed Bangladesh, so in a way I am glad that they are out of the picture. With both of these families gone, hopefully Bangladesh will be out of dynastic rule and will move towards a more democratic future, just like India, but personally I hope it will not be religious extremists coming to power like it happened in India.

What is your opinion about D-8:
Developing 8 (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation

With that kind of hatred shown by Jamati/Razakar Mullahs against Bangladeshi Hindus, isn't it quite obvious that Bangladeshi Hindus will feel uncomfortable in their own country and will try to leave it if they can even at the cost of leaving behind their ancestral home and wealth?

It is not easy to leave behind everything they have for an uncertain future, just think how much they were/are being pushed to the wall that they are constantly leaving or being forced to leave their own country.

However, at least you have admitted that "Things do get uncomfortable for Bangladeshi Hindus in Bangladesh"!!

There's no need to bend over backwards to justify your world view. By it's definition a hegemon need not be competitive, if India had so much power over us why does it have to satisfy us on prices?

There is nothing that China can supply which India cannot. It's testament to our free will that we can choose who to engage.

You're right, as they say shukhe kamrai! If any of us had real problems, we probably wouldn't be on pdf.

I hope no one takes offence, we are all here to see other points of view, and thats all they are, nothing more. :-)

In 1947, our forefathers enthusiastically supported Partition and we became eastern wing of Pakistan. Some of our leaders claimed that we were being discriminated against and exploited upon, and we need our separate country, with instigation from India and Soviet Union, both enemies of our people and still are biggest enemies of Muslims. These traitors were not eliminated in time and they became popular based on a great big lie and hoax and with Indian help instigated a civil war in 1971. Many innocent civilian died in the civil war.

For the last 43 years many of our people believed a lie that we have become independent in 1971. But based on our experience from overt and covert interference of India in our internal affairs, it has become crystal clear to all that we did not become independent in 1971. Rather we became a virtual colony of India. So Bangladesh can be called an Indo-Soviet project, which robbed of the future of the people of our land-mass. During brief rules of BNP, ruled by late Zia and Khaleda Zia, we made attempts to become independent, but every time we ended up in failure. So these can be called temporary phenomenons and not the real character and nature of this country called Bangladesh, which is essentially a colony of India, created to serve Indian interest and ruin the future of the people of its landmass.

Lets hear your opinion, the poll is open to all PDF forum members, Bangladeshi's and non-Bangladeshi's.

It is heart breaking to say that we the Pakiatanis told you so

Because we have ruled Hindus for centuries so we know them inside out. They are totally two face.

Please dont break their party. We are keen to learn jamaat, pro jamaat (BNP) and pakistani people's view towards BD.
After 43 years of independence its really interesting to know their mindset.

Maybe from this, pro BD people will learn something for their future strategy in BD

According to you, as a general rule, a hegemon is able to, and does prevent a weaker state from importing goods from a much stronger rival, even though the weaker nation has access to international waters and can import goods at a cheaper price from the hegemon's rival. Your whole argument here is revolving around this ignorant assumption.

You're just repeating the same thing here.

What sort of hegemony allows the weaker nation to create increasingly strong links with it's rival? The whole point of a hegemony is to dominate access to opportunities and ideologies, that aren't in its interests.

You're playing semantics with the idea of hegemony. People on this thread have called Bd a slave, a client state and much worse. If you're struggling to justify the word hegemony, what chance do those people stand?

You speak for Awami Traitor League and do not speak for 90% Muslim Bangladeshi's.
So you mean to say that you are completely ok with the fact that a Pakistani General ordered to his soldiers in no uncertain terms to kill all the intellectuals in our state and you are willing to overlook the fact of countless war crimes and mass rapes the pakistani army did???

BD is a very much a sovereign country. Indian drones do not bomb it. Indian troops are not stationed in BD. BD has not sold their asset to india on a term very much unfavorable to BD. BD is not dependent of Indian aid for their bread and butter. BD has a very good relations with a country hostile to India like China. Infact, BD is a great Islamic country which is secular. BD can set an example for other failed Islamic states who are nothing but a liability on the world.
