Deputy Minister of Defense of the Turkish military industries, Ismail Demir, said that Saudi Arabia "has not notified us so far" to cancel the deal of Turkish warships, and that "the project continues."
In response to media reports on allegations of Saudi Arabia's cancellation of a deal to import warships from Turkey after Riyadh signed a huge arms deal with Washington during US President Donald Trump's recent visit to the kingdom, Demier expressed his belief that the US-Saudi arms deal didn't influence negatively the " Turkish sale of warships to the Kingdom. "
"The recent US-Saudi deal has not been reflected negatively on us so far, and we have not received any negative response from the Saudi side on our project."
"On the contrary, the project is continuing and there is talk that it will continue, and we received a message yesterday directly in this regard."
The Turkish official pointed out that his country continues its discussions closely with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on the sale of warships Millegm (MİLGEM), and Turkish-made "Atak" helicopters.
