Dhoni's knock one of the best in WC finals: Atherton

Srilanka , were just shocked the pitch was designed so that only wicket will fall with a new ball , and there was 0% support for spinners.

So India took 1-2 quick wickets , and Srilanka got extra CAUTIOUS on a dead pitch , I mean Srilanka score like 70-80 runs in last 5 overs if they had just realized it sooner they could have amassed 350 runs on that pitch but it was the toss ...

If you once again try watching the highlights, you will notice that the first 10 overs of the mandatory power play generated only 31 runs. It was not because of wicket but a very tight bowling session by Zaheer Khan, Patel, Bhajji and Yuvi. Not to mention the terrific fielding by Raina, Yuvi and Kohli.

India know it was a dead pitch , they lost 1-2 wickets , and then it was just smoth singles and doubles - the game got so boring I was reading newsarticles
on internet ... I tuned in when the last six was scored

Dhoni never checked the pitch before the match day, which is out of the usual because the curator of the Wankhede Stadium himself said so. You must know this if you really are into cricket that Wankhede Stadium was almost re-built with massive renovations compared to the stadium's format before world cup started.

Sehwag got out by misfortune and Sachin was exposed to his ONLY weakness in cricket; swing bowling. After that, Gambhir and Kohli handled the pressure in a terrific manner and anything was possible at the time. Do you know that win was only possible once Dhoni and Gambhir really stabilized the wickets. At that stage, even 1 wicket would have costed us the game and the cup.

Did you even bother noticing Jayawardane's batting? Do you remember how consistent he was witch a minimum of 1 boundary per over and remaining singles? There are a few dead pitches around and that is what makes the game more grueling.

It was really a very horrible final - to be honest - no drama absolute shambles of a pitch ... compared to Semi Final game

The whole point of cricket is to be enjoyed by its gaming rules-- not by drama. And there was drama from Indian POV because we were batting and were worried of not losing an important wicket like Dhoni's or Yuvraj's.

It was a pitch made for Younish / Mishbah - to go out there and score a gem of a inning tuk tuk champions even then they would make a cool 50 runs

And yet Dhoni made 91 out of 78 balls and Gambhir a spectacular 97 out of 120 balls... see it is not just about the pitch; it is also about how fast a player is able to adapt to it. That shows a batsman's caliber in the game.

Misbah screwed up the semi-finals for your team because he did not hit when it was needed and kept consuming balls. He could have stabilized the Pakistani batting when he was batting alongside Afridi. Rather than using Afridi's shots as a motivation to start striking hard at the ball, he put even more pressure on his partner with his tuk tuks. SO it is entirely his fault that he did not realize when to leave the role of stabilization and when to start hitting. In the end, he made a career milestone for himself and let the team lose.

the pitch was designed to give advantage to a team who had prior knowledge on the pitch , vs a captain who was not allowed to see the pitch

Wankhede Stadium was completely renovated for the finals and the pitch became opposite of what it was before renovation. Dhoni did not bother checking the stadium himself at all as is usual by captains. Sangakkara checked the pitch but Dhoni only focused on team plans. This is what the curator of the stadium himself said. Google it as I will not spoon-feed you. Also, Before the finals, India NEVER played in that stadium throughout the world cup.

Is this so difficult for you to comprehend or are you really trying to flare up the debate needlessly?

. .
no no ... srilanka bowled and the ball went stright down and only raised to ankle height so players took easy shots

If it was Australian pitches now that is what I am talking about real cricket is in Australia
