What's new

Dhanush: India's 155-mm artillery gun in trial stages

It cost 2.2 MILLION $ for 1 GUN ?

WTF !!! its a Rip Off.

I bet the private players can make the gun for less than 1 million $ per gun.
Buy more and cost will come down. BTW $2-3 Million/unit is not costly for 155 mm guns. And money will be paid by govt, to the 'govt' so in one way or another money will stay with govt. LOLs

In that case why not just distribute all the money to the people of India and then collect it back as taxes ? :azn:

That way everybody will have a fixed income and govt. can collect it all back and say that the money stays with the govt. ?

There is something called productivity.

Drdo is also a private organisation in the end.

See these guys outsource the manufacturing of different parts. Which are given as tender to their own people and relatives holding different firm names. Just make a small change like instead of 6 inch make a screw 6inch 2 soot. And increase the price to 5 folds.

We need private players to take over manufacturing and may be later they can get in a better design

I certainly hope so. But its still far too expensive for a Made in India product. It should not cost more than 3-5 crores if Ordinance factory is making it.

3-5 crores wont be possible..!!
First you have to take into account the barrel itself....the older calibre barrel was replaced with a new higher calibre barrel
The FH-77B had 39 cal. barrel but Dhanush features an upgunned 45 cal. barrel
Range has gone up from 27km to 38km...
Then comes the Fire Control System...the Sights and Recoil mechanisms as welll
Almost all analog systems have been replaced with digital computerised systems......sights are not manual anymore... new digital electro-optic sights have been introduced ..
Its not just a rip off....its a heavily upgraded variant with host of new technologies...
And as pointed out the deal includes gun ring kits n associated accesories....

What is the BOM for this ? It will not exceed 30-40 Lakh Rs. for this Gun. (BOM = Bill of Material) .

Rests is manufacturing cost. So explain to me how the manufacturing will cost 10 Crores ? Even if the BOM is Rs. 1 Crore to 2 Crores, Manufacturing cost cannot be 10 Crores.
