Dhaka conveys coolness towards security cooperation with Washington

If America is a friend, BD needs no other enemies. Note that India is also very careful about America.
India dithered for years before accepting American alliance and only because China is breathing down our neck. It is a sound decision by Bangladesh to not ally with anyone and taking economic benefits from all big players.

Yes last resort no doubt .But joining any block is fast becoming a reality , as you can't stand on two boat ( China and USA ) together at a time.

You see another cold war already started, and in the long run south China sea will be the center of power struggle.

Myanmar will actually work as the Chinese direct route to the bay of Bengal.

And Bangladesh can act as a hedge against India if necessary.

If Bangladesh China and Pakistan are in the same block , then India can never annex any part of Bangladesh , as a force movement in Pakistan border is enough for India to withdraw any force that is advancing to Dhaka . China even don't have to move a muscle aid Bangladesh, as this block is already serving through the military agreement in Pakistan border.

At the same time, if any massive troop India arrange to Pakistan border , we also can arrange troops in Indian Eastern border.

So Pakistan and Bangladesh can help each other and also both nation can focus on economy alongside military.

And China will be protecting its allies in in security council using veto!

So USA block shall not harm us.

And since India will never get out from it's super power delusion , so we can always stay in Chinese block.

Win win situation for all of the members of the block.

India exactly don't want to join us in Chinese block ( look a sanghi is hilariously trying to convince people) , as it will be a serious threat to expansionist sanghiland aka Akhanda Bharat dream.

Because China , Bangladesh Pakistan alliance will literally encircle India and the result will ,India will lost control on NE India, if literally any war break out against Chinese allies.

Also if the block forms , India will no longer remain in the position of dadagiri in Bangladesh.

Baper taluk hisabe bhog korteche Bangladesh er market bujhen na ? Ke haraite chay bolen?

Good analysis. Possible problem with joining the emerging China block is your foreign workers/diaspora will no longer be wanted/trusted in US, EU allied nations and garment trades be blocked in favor of allied nations. There was almost no trade between the Warsaw pact and NATO nations.

Canada don't need to warn us I am sure. Only India will warn as if Bangladesh will join Chinese block , it will only be the concern of India!

So only India will warn like this to create panic! :sarcastic:

let's try to keep good relations with EU and west and better relations with china.

Current PM has correct vision and agenda to develop BD , but she needs to conduct a purge on the dalals

May Allah grant ALL of our people patience and strength to face the challenges.

better for me and everybody in the "West" if you join with China. Bangladeshi are only begging for jobs. Everybody wants jobs. Chinese can try giving all of you jobs. I remember a Chinese poster here replying to me saying how China needs the manufacturing and construction because they have hundreds of millions who want jobs. Now Chinese must find almost a hundred million more jobs.
:yahoo:

add: jobs is one reason populations need to fall. too many beggars begging for jobs.

.
Bangladesh need not be concerned at the moment about external threats to its sovereignty but look inwards. Let' be real here, a nation with a Homogenous population of 160 million + will always be a pain in the *** to invade so who do we really have to fear? BJP rhetoric is all bark and no bite, used by manipulative politicians to gain power. Bangladesh as a country still gripes with problems of endemic poverty and hunger. Instead of spending billions on shortsighted military purchases, they are rightfully building the country so it can eventually sustain itself for the next millennia. Even if an Indian/Chinese/Pakistani/American war is imminent it is Bangladesh's best interest to remain neutral regardless of the circumstances. War and fearmongering only provide to set countries back many decades, see the military rule in Pakistan Myanmar, and North Korea. The truth is we live in a period of long peace that will hopefully continue and future battles will be fought not on air, ground or sea, but through wallets and banks.

We will for sure ,but in the end reality won't allow us. Yes relationship will remain better , as Pakistan is also maintaining good relationship with western block .

We can choose the method , as long as situation allows us.

Whole heartedly agree. That's the reason I am a great fan of Hasina , but dislike BAL , as its full of dalals. So indeed leadership is the key. As long as she is fine , we will keep going.

May Allah grant ALL of our people patience and strength to face the challenges.

At least Bangladeshi aren't and won't be begging for jobs in your India , so you don't need to be concerned!

How long it continues? Lots of Bangladeshi have romanticism of peace and neutrality ,but romanticism doesn't last forever ,sorry to say.

We need a very strong armed forces to protect our economy. Most of countries of Europe are maintaing their great economy because they have an alliance named NATO! NATO is strong , so other small countries don't need to maintain good defence force.

In this region Bangladesh is a large country by huge population of 170 millions , so yes we can't maintain economy by remaining neutral.

Smaller countries like Nepal , Bhutan ,Maldives and Sri lanka will only keep focusing on economy ,while China , Bangladesh and Pakistan have to focus on both!

So it's better to wait for the future before making decisive comments.

Trading nations will not go to war with each other. But we need to have some level of deterrence to maintain our sovereignty and little prosperity we have.
Our airspace being violated and genocide being committed by a nation that has been in civil war since its creation. It has less economic strength than us.

We need to protect our assets in Bay of Bengal for which we need small fleet of submarines and surface vessels with good air defences. We need this , now more than ever. I agree most of your criticism but unfortunately we don't live in a good neighbourhood.

Young journos at Dhaka Tribune probably wanted to write 'cold shoulder' but ended up in literal Bengali-English translation 'coolness' A foreign reader who is unfamiliar with Bengali expressions is likely to misread the headline.

Bangladesh:
Yo cuz, let's go pop some bi**h-a$$ ni**as deep in the Bay. Holler at me when y'all down.
