Dhaka is indeed older than 405 years. However it is 405 years since it was granted city status.

City status given by Mughals as provincial capital of Bengal part of Hindustan. But the above video discusses about its city status during independent Sultani reign.

Does Dhaka has an older name?

I guess dhaka was not important until it was renamed Jahangir nagar. Before that Rajshahi division in ancient Bengal and Sonargao Munshi ganJ area during middle age and early Mughal Era were the capitals of Bengal. But Dhaka itself is an old name.

Does Dhaka has an older name?

Dhaka itself is the ancient name of the city. The name was changed by Mughal emperor Akbar's son Jahangir. He named it after him. Jahangir Nagar. Later it was changed to the original name, Dhaka.

Etymology

The origins of the name for Dhaka are uncertain. Once dhak tree was very common in the area and the name may have originated from it. Alternatively, this name may refer to the hidden goddess Dhakeshwari, whose shrine is located in the south-western part of the city.[17] Another popular theory states that Dhaka refers to a membranophone instrument, dhak which was played by order of Subahdar Islam Khan I during the inaugurating of the Bengal capital in 1610.[18] Some references also say that it was derived from a Prakrit dialect called Dhaka Bhasa; or Dhakka, used in the Rajtarangini for a watch-station; or it is the same as Davaka, mentioned in the Allahabad pillar inscription of Samudragupta as an eastern frontier kingdom.[19]
