Developments and Turkish operations in Libya

I think it's fair to say France doesn't actually consider Turkey as an ally, but more like an opponent and think sooner or later there will be an inevitable confrontation. You could cite issues in Cyprus,Greece, the mediterannean as a whole and of course Libya among others.

So yes France is ready to ally or side with not so presentable and doubtful "friends" to counter Turkish's growing influence in Libya and the mediterranean as a whole.

Thanks for your honest answer. I wouldn't be wrong to say that many european countries share the same sentiment, but I think the French have the hardest keeping a pokerface.

However I think the permanent members of UN needs to be reduced or increased. Salame put it there perfectly as it is.

what does this have to do with the current conflict in Libya? these are 2 separate issues so this is a derailing post.
These are not 2 separate issues. This tweet serves to demonstrate France’s collonialists exercises in Africa. This is important because even now, in 21st century, France shows no signs of stopping it as we see inthe case of Libya with the warlord Hifter.

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar and Chief of General Staff Yasar Guler have visited Libya on Friday to review the activities carried out under a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

A military ceremony was held for the duo upon their arrival at the Mitiga International Airport in the capital Tripoli.

Following the ceremony, Akar and Guler went to the Defence Security Cooperation and Training Assistance Advisory Command, which was created within the scope of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Turkey and Libya.

The two met with Turkish and Libyan soldiers, including Osama al Juwaili, the commander of the Operation Peace Storm.

Akar reiterated Turkey’s support for Libyan people to ensure they live “comfortably, happier and more confidently.”

"I want you to know that we are with you today and tomorrow, and will do whatever it requires for our Libyan brothers under the instructions of our president,” Akar said.

Bilateral cooperation

On November 27, 2019, Ankara and Tripoli signed two MoUs; one on military cooperation and the other on maritime boundaries of countries in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The maritime pact asserted Turkey's rights in the Eastern Mediterranean in the face of unilateral drilling by the Greek Cypriot administration, clarifying that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) also has rights to the resources in the area. It went into effect on December 8.

Following the military cooperation deal, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara may consider sending troops to Libya if the UN-recognised Tripoli government made such a request.

Ok. But someone can say Turkey also looks colonialist in Libya no? Turkey went to "enforce" what the UN declared and setup in Libya, but who asked Turkey formally to do so???Just like US overstepped its legal boundaries in going militarily directly at Gaddafi when the mandate only asked UN forces to protect civilians. i am just thinking about how some people think TUrkey's actions in Libya are holy and right, when the legal basis is not fully clean or even honest.
This is important because even now, in 21st century, France shows no signs of stopping it as we see inthe case of Libya with the warlord Hifter.
And thats why is aid France's colonialist exploitation of Africa is a completely separate issue of Libya and Turkey's involvement there.
And on the other hand, what about Turkey? will Turkey fully exit Libya if the GNA took over LNA areas and peace was restored to Libya?(hypothetically speaking). Looks like Turkey is looking for an oil reserves ad maritime territory grab, under the guise of supporting the "UN backed govt" in Libya. BUt its all a game right? so lets see how you play it through the end.

Ok, intentional move.

The people of Libya asked Turkey to do so, as represented by the Government of National Accord; the internationally recognized government of Libya as the political representative of the people of Libya, and the Grand Mufti of Libya Sheikh Sadiq al-Ghariani as the religious representative of the people of Libya.

Stop your shameless and futile pretension that France and Turkey are the same when it comes to Africa. We are proud to say that we never slaughtered african leaders en masse, never brought their skulls home and never exhibited them in museums like a bunch of savage Orcs.

Instead spend your time on something that you understand.

In addition, various joint military training programs are planned for officer training of Libyan army and training of special operations units. (Like an example of Somalia)

The agreement has been finalized. The Turkish Armed Forces will undertake the training and equipment activities of the Libyan Army and Special Forces.

Libyan base will probably be the largest cross-border military academy of TAF. As the main framework, military and security cooperation agreement signed on November 27, 2019 were as follows:

- Providing Military Training, consultancy, material planning support to Libya,
- Establishment 'Defense and Security Cooperation Office' both Turkey and Libya,
- Land, sea and air vehicles, weapons, training bases can be allocated between countries; in this case, the property will belong to the country allocated,
- Counseling on joint military planning, training, and the use of weapons will be provided
- Joint exercises, intelligence sharing and "peacekeeping" operations will be possible between countries,
- 'Civilian personnel belonging to defense and security organizations' and troops called 'Guest Personnel' can be sent to Libya,
- Military supplies can be donated, sold or rented to Libya. Also revitalization of production functions through technology transfers to Libya.

In this context, Libya-Turkey military academy constitutes one of the most critical phase of this agreement.

A Turkish convoy started stationing at Al-Wattia base, which is the third or perhaps fourth convoy, after the base was secured with anti-aircraft, and it will serve as a base for Turkish military supplies and a headquarters for the launch of warplanes and the march away from any dangers, as happened with the Maitika airport.
