Turkey and Iran are planning to conduct a joint military operation against the PKK in the north of Iraq in stages, Trend reported citing Turkish media on August 22.

Reportedly, firstly the Turkish Air Force will bomb 19 positions of the PKK in the areas of Zap, Berwari, Batuf, Chemch and Avashin.

The military operation will be carried on the territory of Iraq, 19 km from the Turkish border. The first stage of the operation is expected to last 8-10 days.

During the second stage of the operation, the Iranian Armed Forces will begin ground operations in the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq.

Roughly 42.000 Iranian soldiers will take part in the land operations, while the land troops will be supported by the Turkish military aircrafts.

Turkish media reports that Ankara and Tehran also intend to establish a joint military base in the north of Iraq.

Not very smart to announce it,they will be long gone by the time the ground operation start.
So,just a show again?

It is a show. Joint operation is another method to rally the public with hope, they're focusing solely on military methods in a war against an enemy that is embedded with the local populace. One has to go back to the days before the KRG, pre 1991 and consider PKK activity back then when they had no actual safe ground. There lies your problem -> KRG. But some in your government don't want to admit that due to money.

.
Assuming this actually gets implemented, it's a really cool plan. I especially like the part where we don't send in any ground troops. i wonder what caused Iran to agree to this? They are practically acting as a ground force for us and 42000 is not a small number. I hope we are not giving up too much of influence over KRG for this, because KRG is among a small number of places that we still have influence on.

What influence? PKK are hiding in Northern Iraq from decades now and are helped and sheltered there by the local Peshmerga forces and of course with the consent of the local Government- Some days ago someone even posted Barzani's own words while in Saudi Arabia: "We don't consider the PKK to be a terror organization.".
Barzani and different Kurdish delegations are flying all around Europe and the Middle East in the last months to look for support for their referendum in September, they even had a secret meeting with the Bulgarian government like 2 months ago the info about which somehow leaked to all the medias.

Influence... just because certain people close to the government make lot's of money from the bussines they have in Northern Iraq (both legal and illegal) it doesn't mean that we have any influence there- it's the US who pulls the strings there not Turkey. Ask any kurd in Erbil and he will be more than happy to see the Turks dead. That's the bitter truth... All the talk about friendship, brotherhood and Muslim unity with them are a pure nonsense some people in the Government keep repeating while our soldiers, police officers and civilians keep dieing for their mistakes.

Good

I have no doubt iraqi government has already agreed with this, if it was true.

Three country should be able to pull their weights and punch idiots on the face, Barzani i mean

I hope Pakistan also work with us to clean our boundaries from jeysh terrorists.

It is said that Barzani has Jewish origins, going back few generations... Kadir Misiroglu and other historians have stated this fact a few times before. They are covert Jews trying to change/divert Iraqi Kurds, using them as a tool for their hidden agenda.

There are a lot of books about barzani families, they say barzani families are Jewish and work for Israel interests.

Kadir Misiroglu is from Akçaabat, Trabzon province... A place where most people were Pontic Greeks back in the days. Using his logic I can also say that mr. Misiroglu is a Greek Donmeh and a crypto-christian who is trying to divide the Turkish nation with his wild conspiracy theories.

Modern day Turkish people have a very diverse origins ranging from Albania (i.e.Mehmet Akif Ersoy), Bosnian, Bulgarian, Greek (Barbaros Hayretting Pasa), Croatian (Kuyucu Murat Pasa), - Pretty much most Eastern European, Tatar Turks, Chechen (Cerkez), Dagistani, Georgian (Gurcu), Pontic Greek (Laz's), Kurdish, Arabic and Azeri Turkish, Afghan (Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi)... Let's not forget the population exchange agreement with Greece and Turkey, allot of ethnic Greek Muslims made Anatolia their home.

Because Ottoman empire was the center point of Islam, carrying the Caliphate flag for 400 years, it has drawn allot of people into Anatolia from different ethnic origins. When Ottoman Empire was dissolved, and the caliphate abolished, allot of Muslim people in Anatolia (modern day Turkey) from varying ethnic origins automatically became Turkish and Turkish nationalism was emphasised on these people.

For example Deliorman, your grandfathers were a staunch Muslim within the Ottoman empire, your ethnic origins might be questioned but you became a Turk with the current Turkish system in place.

Yes, and because of our influence there we stage operations like northern iraq was our backyard. Just compare this situation to the bashiqa camp situation which belongs to the central government and not to KRG.

and are helped and sheltered there by the local Peshmerga forces and of course with the consent of the local Government- Some days ago someone even posted Barzani's own words while in Saudi Arabia: "We don't consider the PKK to be a terror organization.".
That is not true, Barzani and PKK are rivals. Barzani has to show some tolerance to PKK because otherwise he wouldn't survive, that is why he says things like that occasionally.

Barzani and different Kurdish delegations are flying all around Europe and the Middle East in the last months to look for support for their referendum in September, they even had a secret meeting with the Bulgarian government like 2 months ago the info about which somehow leaked to all the medias.
I said influence. I didn't say they were our slaves tied up in chains. Of course they will pursue their own interests too. And of course they will meet with whoever they want. Just because we have influence over them doesn't mean they are not allowed to meet Bulgarian people.

I will give one example only. Barzani is willing to sell oil and gas to us even after the central government was seriously against it. And we need lots of those two in the situation we are in right now.
