Now that I have your attention, I'd like to talk about something very important that often makes me cringe.
There is something wrong with the mindset of majority of Pakistanis.
They fail to see the light of reason and instead prefer to base their decisions and opinions by virtue of religious sayings, political tilt or most of the time, hearsay.
One prime example is the open bashing and lambasting of the modern peoples in our country as being "desi liberals", "liberal fascists" and "pseudo-intellectuals"/"pseudo-liberals" with all these terms being used interchangeably very often on Pakistani social media.
99, or I'd rather say 100% of the time the people who use such terms (especially the definition of 'fascist') do not even know what they mean or in what context such terms are used.
Our 2-faced attitude towards religion, intolerance of progressive and non-Islam religion's views are also a part of this twisted mindset. We expect people in other countries to be tolerant of Islam but when it comes to Islam being tolerant of others there is suddenly a lot of blasphemy (read beheading and murder in the name of Allah) involved.
People who prefer to use sanity and well thought out arguments for their opinion are criticized as being wannabes, fake and liberals are called "Agents of the West" and openly declared Kaafirs.
Anyone who speaks up against Mullahs and/or radicalization is forcefully hushed or ignored.
Why this stupidity? Why is it that people refuse to accept facts and instead prefer to provide counter arguments to prove how "more wrong" the opposing opinion is than their own?

The original comment in whose reply all the follow up replies can be seen, was:
"Civil Society or Liberal Fascists?" by the same user Basit Dar.
What boggled me was that it was top comment with over 30 likes!
Please discuss what could be the reasons for such idiocy which runs rampant in our Pakistani society and what could be done about it.

It is only a manifestation of ignorance that has been festering for decades but has been recently hijacked by the Mullah Brigade and their apologist sympathizers that are now able to set the agenda for debate and direction of the whole society, of which PDF is only a microcosm. By all indications, this self-destructive trend seems to be irreversible.

Oh you definitely got my attention, I was going to come on to this thread all gun blazing. Nice click baiting. :enjoy:

Anyways, I agree with everything you've said. One thing I do not understand is how can people who have no knowledge of anything, let alone liberalism are allowed by the mainstream media to bark against "liberal fascists". The stupidity is even more evident when you ask these people to give you an example of a "liberal fascist".

I remember debating a fella on PDF on these very same elusive "liberal fascists" carrying out violent attacks. Guess what that posters response was? He gave me the same example of the Khmer rouge, saying look at these violent liberal fascists. After that I have given up on these right wingers. Brainwashing has destroyed their basic intellectual capacity, unfortunately they make up the majority of the population.

Pakistan is a jungle...but with no rules or a "red-line".

How many people in Pakistan even know that the term Liberal-Fascist is an oxymoron :)

Morons will be morons, oxy or not! :D

Brainwashing has destroyed their basic intellectual capacity, unfortunately they make up the majority of the population.

Just trust what the Mullah tells you what Allah wants you to do. Who needs to think for themselves?

.
Always seeking false moral equivalency is just inability to critically analyze and introspect.

Taliban and liberals same
Murderers and cartoonists same
Fake wikileaks, fake interviews, fake reporters, fake stories of modi being taken to task by Kerry and low quality indian media same
Deliberate targeting civilians and collateral damage same
Government actions and individual actions same
Terrorist and professional soldier same
Slavery and banking system same
Nuclear black trade and a leak at a power plant same
Irrational hatred and pursuing self interest same
Discrimination and positive discrimination same

and so on and so forth...

I wish I could post links! Very frustrating. There was a very interesting documentary in the UK the other week. It is available on YouTube. It's talking about the battle for Islam in the UK and how there seems to be an internal struggle between moderate Islam that can get along with others, and then the more radical extreme version of Islam.

If you google this you should hopefully be able to find it on YouTube. Watch it because I think it's along the same lines as what the original poster was talking about: The Battle for British Islam BBC Panorama BBC Documentary 2015

Belief is stronger than reason.
That's the exact same principle on which terrorists are programed to function on.
They're taught to believe everything the Mullah says and not to ask any questions; which results in the abonimation that they are. They don't think, don't ask, just believe. Still 'believe' in your stupid logic?

Same is also true when some people call every man with beard mullah, conservative, jahil etc. Also consider other side of story.
???
Only racists do that. Wearing your cultural dress (by which I mean Shalwar Kameez, not Burqa et al) and/or sporting a beard does not make one conservative, jahil etc but the reason for such assumption in west is because of a stereotype.
And that stereotype exists usually for a good reason which is that most (at least a majority) of people who wear beards are usually very intolerant, short tempered and prefer to keep their wives at home. All in all such people are very backward and narrow minded, for which reason such a stereotype exists. (Again, by majority I'd say it's a 51-49 figure, but big enough to give people that impression).

lol... reseasoned belief is more stronger then mere belief...
if you will put a gun in your mouth and shoot(ofcouse loaded), it will pierce you through, no matter how much faith you have in your gun, or anyone...
