Bofors 155mm howitzer in question is a 40 year old piece of technology.

A newer gun should be better than that, by default.

Which part of this "40 year old piece of technology" is out-dated?
Let us hear you specifically point that out:
Is it the Breech, Gun Barrel and Muzzle_brake Assy ?,
Is it the recoil Assy ?
Is it the Gun Loading and Laying/Aiming Control Mechanism ?
Is it the Gun-Carriage Assy ?
Is it the Power and Servo Eqpt ?
Is it the Ammunition ?

Your amplification on these points may be quite illuminating.....
