Denmark has just announced that it will order the Nexter CAESAR to replace their old M109 that entered in service in the Danish army in 1965. They selected the new 8X8 version with the automated loading system and direct fire capability. They will become the first customer of this version.
15 CAESAR will be ordered with an option for 6 more.

. . . .
-Nexter with its CAESAR.
-Elbit with its ATMOS2000.
-Samsung Techwin with its K9 Thunder.
Interesting that a tracked SPG was pitted agaisnt wheeled truck-based MGS.

Anyway, 2 of the above will be coming for the Indian Army ;)

ATM, Ceasar is a clear choice for most armed forces
as it is the most versatile top performance product.
It should bag quite a few orders in the next years.

However, as pointed out in Kat's post above ( welcome BTW ),
it doesn't fit all and one can easily see how in scenarii
involving soft terrain, denied access or push through
/ brute force tactics, it might be seen as lacking.

Do remember that in France, we also use tracted guns,
tank based obusier, MLRS
( LRU in Fr.Army ) and tracted
mortars. Of these, only the former is slated for repla-
-cement by the CEASAR.

But being former cavalry myself and Chasseur to boot,
I find that weapon to be very adapted to the type of
fast light hard hitting high mobility combat we are best
at since ... well, almost forever!

*Thinks of a Ceasar attached to a light cavalry recon unit and goes : Yummy!*

From Denmark to Indonesia ( that just re-ordered some ),
the
range of the Ceasar is already outstanding?

Great day all, Tay.
