MQM should've won, If establishment was serious about fixing Karachi, only MQM can fix Karachi's issues because only they had the educated people, only problem was that were led by Traitor like Altaf, a New leadership with MQM is the only way. Without that the backward/Tribal/cavemen people will keep ruining a nice city. I miss those days when Karachi was peaceful and those so called Pashtoo's Baloch Sindhi and their badmashi was put in check by MQM.

Karachi didnt voted for PPP. I have discussed with a lot of people and most of my friends are supporter of PTI but most of us voted for Jamat-e-Islami and some voted for PTI.

Karachi people knows that IK has no base on local politics of Karachi and therefore not suited for local government however in provincial and national we will still vote for PTI.

PPP was voted by establishment, both civil and military, period.

Not that PTI, JI or MQM could have done wonders for Karachi by winning it, but I now expect Karachi going to the 7th level of hell with the new admin. If one looks at the affairs of interior Sind, not much hope for Karachiites. My sympathies..

One possibility however is that PPP may not have an excuse anymore but to deliver in Karachi (they run the province and now also the city). If they don't, the anger of masses will be directed at them. In the past they punted the blame over to MQM for running KMC etc. Now they will be putting their own people in these places.

That...or they might try altering Karachi demographics a bit to ensure their supporters have preeminence in the city. This could see some partial development uplift (for 'native' areas), while 'foreign areas' see a bigger downturn.

However, I don't necessarily think they'll turn entirely on the Urdu-speaking population. In fact, I think the PPP will try rebuilding its national identity so as to better contest for federal elections in the future. Rather, I can see the PPP unleashing nativist fangs on domestic migratory populations, i.e., those in Karachi from other provinces (and Afghanistan).

they have already turned on urdu speaking population. they have ensured they win through gerrymandering and rigging. and of course, they have settled a lot of Sindhis from other areas of Sindh on govt land and regularized those settlements as legal.

there is no national ID for ppp. they are an ethnic party, they will remain one. and they tightened their grip on the province, as is evident form this election. enjoy pakistanio, sindhio aur karachi waalo.

they won through rigging and pre-poll gerrymandering. they broke up larger UCs into smaller ones, where they are in majority, to get more seats.

There is very little correlation between development outcomes and getting elected in the Sindh Assembly (and in many parts of Pakistan in general.) Interior Sindh, as per your own example, provides ample empirical evidence.
