Delhi & Tokyo may ink pact for India’s first Bullet Train during Shinzo Abe’s visit

.
You seriously want to compare Indian economy with Pakistan now?

Read my posts above for why not or why to be careful in assessing it.

Because interest rates are dependent on risk analysis and confidence in project completion. The Japanese wouldn't offer such extremely low interests rates if they didn't think the project could be completed on time and in budget, and I trust their analysis and studies on the project confidence over some armchair internet analysis.

.
Dear Anant_s, have u read the technical details of this railway?
I have read. Frankly speaking, not good news, a lot of limits ensure only Japanese products can be used. Cross section and distance between tracks is too small, I don't get it, it's a new railway not upgrading an old one. The standards are low and not open, like Taiwan HSR, totally kidnapped by Japanese companies and in abysmal financial crisis. Standard gauge? Does it mean there will be no through services from "upgraded" old lines to new lines? And prices of the lowest class seem really expensive.
Well the thing is a lot of HST projects require funding which is beyond railways capacity right now and therefore soft loans are being looked into. JICA is funding some of these, however it comes with a condition that India will have to buy Japanese manufactured hardware.
on upgrading of existing tracks, u remember we discussed New Delhi Agra track for 200 kph service and still some work remains to be done wrt fencing etc.
i guess with budgets available it would've been prudent to actually invest in upgrading existing track and signaling and allow a uniform speed increment to 150kph on high density routes first.
in utility terms these tracks earn most revenue and if these are upgraded, more people will be benefitted.

.
The first train is planned between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The project will cut travelling time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad from seven to two hours.

More and more he is sounding like PM of Gujarat rather than PM of India.

.
I hope the track will be sealed from both sides. So many people just hit by cars in Indian highways. Now a train with 320 km/hr speed. :(
Awwww.... Don't worry Sir.. there's no high speed train on WB Bangladesh border. So you can keep herding slow moving cattle to Bangladesh without any such fear, but.... lungi samhalke.

. . .
More and more he is sounding like PM of Gujarat rather than PM of India.

So why didn't he stop the development of railway manufacturing stations in Bihar? If it were Sonia she would have cut all aid and funding to the state.

After all, he is an politician..He has to make sure his support base in intact at his home state...

Gujarat is doing just fine by itself, handily winning all civic polls. Congress should be more worried about their own base in Karnataka, Kerala, and Assam where things are not going as well as they planned.

CMs do that. Not PMs.
PM = whole nation.
He has to carry many states to be selected again.
Gujarat alone wont cut the mustard.
He is only helping Gujarat with his heart, being a native of Gujarat.
Having a soft corner for one state and keeping other state on back burner is uncivilized.

In fact he is losing voters confidence (lately) everywhere, his state included.
So when the development issue is concerned for a PM of the nation, he has to see that piece of such
development is extended to every state, not only his own.
This is selfish from any PM of India to say the least.

So tell me which states will BJP lose that they now control, and which states Congress opposition will win.

Congress is going to get booted out of the North entirely in HP and Uttarakhand.

BJP will also sweep victory in Karnataka where agitation is growing against a useless government.

All NE will also come into control of BJP by 2019, as they are agitated about illegal Bangladeshi immigration.

People vote BJP as they are fed up with Congress rule. Comparing BJP to congress would itself be an epic fail.

There are handful of BJP ruled states apart from Gujarat where some of these projects could be implemented.

You have tailor made questions to fav you, despite knowing the obvious (recent massive drubbings)

You have to go for next few elections to begin with:

3-4 months: W Bengal is coming.
Where Modi is not going to win. Not even a 1% chance.

Then you have Punjab.

Here also AAP is getting stronger by the day.
Hence 3 way fight. Badal's reputation is fooked up.
Punjab = No BJP.

UP. There is going to be many parties to jump into the fray a la Mahagathbandan of Bihar which has become a golden standard to beat BJP.

And in UP, the BJP is thinking of putting up Varun Gandhi's face as a CM. But look what happened last night:

BJP controlled Delhi MCD polls:

AAP to sweep the most!

Look at the present reality and predict the future reasonably, instead of boxing in the air.

Congress bounced back in Modi's own backyard.
See the results for your self in my previous post.
That should tell you some.
Whining wont bring any votes at BJP's doorstep.

So you agree with me that Congress is going to get booted out of the states that they currently govern. Congress is the only party that could even think to challenge them on a national stage, and only a national party can challenge them in 2019. That is not happening as long as the party refuses to reform and boot out the Nehru Dynasty, something that should have happened in 2014.

There are handful of BJP ruled states apart from Gujarat where some of these projects could be implemented.

One of the main reasons why the Gujarat-Maharashtra was inked was because BJP has shown it is capable of acquiring land for new projects unlike Congress or local parties. Hence why road, coal, and general infrastructure projects are so rapidly gaining traction right now under BJP center and BJP-led states.

Land Bill was proposed to alleviate this issue, but opposition refused to cooperate. Now they are complaining about why private companies don't want to work in UPA states, but prefer BJP-led ones :coffee:

It would be incorrect to conclude

loss of Congress = gain of BJP

There are many regional parties in India which when combined would have the majority of the seats in future Indian elections.

This only means in future we would see more and more PMs from the third or fourth front rather than UPA or NDA.

So BJP wins Uttarakhand, Karnataka, HP, Assam, and all NE states.

Maintains status quo in West Bengal where they currently have NO presence to being with, but maybe some minor seat gain.

Punjab will be a tough fight. That is okay. 60 years Congress rule, but they didn't win every state all the time, nor did they always have easy elections.

UP is a toss-up, but even if 'Grand Alliance' formed, it will be with Congress in the background only providing media support, and BJP with a good chance to increase seat share where it currently has none, which would still be a boost to their RS seats.

It would be incorrect to conclude

loss of Congress = gain of BJP

So BJP wins Uttarakhand, Karnataka, HP, Assam, and all NE states. These are states run by Congress, and so Loss of Congress = gain of BJP, because they are the only other major players in those regions.

Problem with 3rd and 4th front is that they rely on different parties voting together for a coalition in LS. Regional parties got throttled in 2014 LS, and I don't see why that would change.

People vote in LS for future PM, so local political leaders can't properly leverage their popularity as they won't be ruling and their constituents won't be benefiting from their promises. We say this in 2014 in UP and Bihar, 'grand alliances' only work on the local levels.
