Well, I'm pretty sure rape is not allowed in any religion, so there is no point in trying to score points on a tragedy. The guilty must be punished. Simple as that.

The difference in the attitudes of the civil society. Remember the Delhi gangrape. If it were not for the massive protests, would the world media have taken notice? In that same week a South African woman named Anene Booysen was raped, gored and murdered. No one but the South African media noticed. In that same month, a small girl (maybe around 8, if I remembered correct), was raped and killed in Pakistan (I read this in Tribune). No one took notice. In fact, even in the Delhi rape, the protests happened because it was someone from the middle class who died. The poor get raped, killed, abused and all. But for them it becomes part of life, because they've never got justice ever. The middle class live in a coccoon of imagined safety and when that broke, they were outraged. Also, the Indian populace was very much disappointed with the then government. Ever since those protests, all rape stories in India get coverage (partly because TRP as it gives people something to outrage about).

Contrast this with what happened in Kasur recently. Was there any protest? Nope. The victims were from poor families. Even if the victim was from the middle class, I think (and I say this from my opinion of the Pakistanis), because of some misplaced sense of honor, nobody would have even spoken about it (would have been the case in India too, 10 - 15 years ago).

Also, remember what happened in Rotherham? There is no great outrage in Britain because of political correctness.

Honestly, I don't mind if such stories get coverage in India. Only then we can correct ourselves.

The incident happened, when the school girl was out for a morning walk, when two men kidnapped and took the girl to their house and gang-raped her.


After sexually assaulting the school girl, the duo – Naushad and Mohammad – kept her confined in the house.

They duo gagged the Class XI student and tied her legs and hands so that she couldn't raise an alarm.

When the girl didn't return home, the victim's parents and people from neighbourhood started searching for her.

According to a neighbour, when they were looking out for the girl, some people found something suspicious in a house. The house was taken on rent by Naushad.

The house was found to be locked from outside, but the light was switched on. Sensing something suspicious, the neighbours broke open the door and found the girl.

The angry mob apprehended the duo and brutally thrashed and tonsured them. Later they were handed over to the police.

It's not about indian-men's mentality. Such incidents are very very common now a days Specifically in Asia.
They need to be hanged in the most Crowded Chowk of india 10 times minimumly. Such frustrated persons in a group of 2-3 persons destroy the whole image of society.

This is more of a comment on Indian media than anything else. Whatever India media highlights finds an echo across global media these days. Remember Anna Hazares movement. It was everywhere, even though it was not even political.

This power Indian media enjoys is a curse and a blessing at the same time.

The first time we realised this power was during Kargil war. The sting of our media was quite potent and found echo everywhere. Pakistani state also realised this soft power and eventually opened up their media too.
