9 pm data added. COMPLETE FAILURE. Moreover today is a holiday with very little cars on the street anyways.

Brother, It may be a failure but i still feel a start has been made.. We need more bold experiments and innovative way to control our pollution levels.. With ideas which are more practical in nature and timelines which can scientifically back up what we are aiming for.

All in all a very good effort from your side by keeping a constant update.. Its just Day 1.. Keep going Bro.. We may see some interesting developments over next 13 days.

yes it just first day which happen to be holiday ..wait for Monday ....I see it complete failure.....

Lets not get into Modi Kejri etc. This was a plan, and I had some expectation. Afterall this is the air we are breathing in at this very moment. And somewhere in our body a cell maybe mutating to form cancer.

I really hoped this would work. Looks like cars play a very minor role in air pollution in India.

2 weeks ago some news channel was giving the data that 50% of pollution caused by vehicles is actualy of 2 wheelers.

You cannot use 31st night as benchmark for any result reason being 31st night is new year and lots of people were on the street. The pollution level was supposed to be up.
Also first couple of days after 8 pm will be high as well, as people dont have habit of not using their cars for any days. After couple of days they start becoming habbitual and they will not take their cars after 8 pm.
The real test will be on first working day after a long holiday season i.e 4th Jan, Monday when whole of delhi will be going to their work.
But i found it very pleasing to drive through delhi's road. it took me approx 30 min to reach from Karol Bagh to Dwarka which in other normal/holiday days is between 50 mints to 1 hrs drive.
Also I must also say that I have seen strict discipline from infamous delhi wala's with the even/odd cars. Apart from 1-2 stray cases I saw only odd cars today on the road. This is very encouraging.
We should encourage it and other ways to reduce the traffic and bring discipline to the drivers.

You can not exempt auto rickshaws from the scheme & expect to make a difference. These autos are mostly diesel & one can easily witness the amount of smoke these autos emit. Then again Kejri wants to exempt them 'cause they are his core vote bank & free advertisers!

I believe a better way of analysis would be to first understand how much quantum of pollution are caused by say 2 Wheeler, 3 Wheeler, 4 Wheeler upto 1500CC sub 4 meter and above 1500CC above 4 meter.

Then perhaps we may able to narrow down to chief causal agents and formulate a better strategy

A question to ask also is ask why not introduce say bharat 5 or bharat6 emission jorms.. Don't you think that may help us curb pollution directly at manufacturers point also. This may help in dropping the stats a lot.

Also remove all cars used in public scheme beyond 15 years. Improve the public means of transport like buses autos etc to run in cng.

The radio cabs also fully in cng..

With improved emission norms of say bharat 5and 6 I can see a good drop pan India..

This guy Kejriwal had no plan, he just came up with this idiocy from the top of his head at a moments notice...and it mostly inconveniences middle class men who don't vote for him anyway.

Any normal sincere person would have set up a committee of experts and studied the problem first and then come up with a plan with a holistic approach and many recommendations set to a realistic timetable......but that takes time and hard work.

This drama was easy to do, doesn't take any time, gives him a lot of media attention and when it doesn't work he can blame the governer or Modi or the RSS or the IAS or the Americans....he'll find someone suitable in the next week for sure.
