We don't know what's happening, but if this is really a part of vaccine consequences, I will salute BAL for taking the decision.

I hope they will not act as a.ss.holes by changing the decision.

(Published by Bd Pratidin 22 June, 2021 .)

Delhi has not vaccinated, so Dhaka is not sending hilsa either: Anandabazar

The colors of the much-advertised 'India-Bangladesh Golden Chapter' of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his foreign ministry are fading at the moment. About 1.7 million people in Bangladesh are sitting with the first dose of Indian corona antidote. Time has passed.

India says it is not possible to send another dose of the vaccine at this time. According to Dhaka sources, anger over the issue is no longer suppressed in that country. Which is directly reflected in the context of Bengali's favorite fish Hilsa.

Bangladesh has long had a ban on hilsa exports to India. Despite this, the Hasina government had given clearance to export 2,000 tonnes of hilsa to West Bengal during Jamaishthi last year. But this year Padma Hilsa did not fall in West Bengal.

According to experts, it would not be right to make such a simplification that the export of hilsa was stopped because the promised vaccine was not sent. But it is also true that the relationship between the two sides has become so tense that the climate of Hilsa-diplomacy is no more.

By the way, Hilsa is also a diplomatic symbol in the ups and downs of India-Bangladesh relations. Earlier, when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Dhaka to sign the land boundary agreement, she had a joke with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Seeing the five steps of hilsa in the banquet list, Mamata asked Hasina, why are they keeping hilsa? Hasina's reply was, "As soon as the water of Teesta comes, the fish will swim and go to the other side!"

For the time being, Bangladesh has restrained that passion for the implementation of the Teesta Treaty. But according to political sources in the country, there have been some incidents in the last one year that have made it difficult for the Hasina government to control the anti-India mood in Bangladesh. It is being admitted domestically that Dhaka is being forced to open the field of defense to China even if it does not want to.

About 1.1 million doses of Chinese antidote have already arrived in Dhaka as a gift from Beijing. Another 3 million doses have been paid. That too will arrive soon.

According to Bangladesh sources, during his visit to Dhaka in March, Indian Prime Minister Modi also spoke to the top leadership of Bangladesh about the issue of vaccination. But after the second wave of Corona hit India, the South Block decided to suspend vaccine exports to neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

According to Bangladesh, after receiving so much assurance from India about the vaccine, the interested China was sent back. Now China has reached the point of bargaining with them.

According to sources, a Chinese delegation arrived in Bangladesh in August last year and started preliminary talks on vaccination. Significantly, Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Sringla went to Dhaka just then. The Modi government then gave utmost importance to counter-diplomacy. After all, the Chinese team was seen returning from Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has recently allowed the use of Chittagong port and airport to send goods from other parts of the country to the north-eastern states of India. In other words, the people of Bangladesh have a direct and indirect role in the journey of Indian goods.

According to a political source in Dhaka, if the people of that country are upset about India, then this connection project could also have a negative impact. Not only the inability to pay the arrears, Dhaka has complained, sometimes domestically and sometimes openly, that the emotions of Bangladesh have been hurt. Source: Anandabazar Patrika

While there was some reason(not justification though) for delaying the delivery of AstraZeneca doses, that India signed contract for and also already got money for till end of May/early June, there is none now.

BD should look at a range of full retaliatory options at Modi - India is in a weak position now and BD needs to punish it as much as possible for reneging in it's legal commitments to deliver the 5 million a month doses of the vaccine.

I would like BD to look at punishing economic measures that hurt the W Bengal/NE economies as long as it does not make destitute Indians in these states starve and of course not target Tripura.

Bd is in no position to punish India. Consequences of spreading your *** on a platter 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think Hilsa is that big a deal to us.

But the thing is - we have been giving them expensive Hilsa almost every year while they royally screw us over. One Hilsa is shared among five families in Kolkata - it is so expensive.

This year we had Indian Onion fiasco, Indian Potato fiasco and now Indian Vaccine fiasco (that they betrayed us with in major fashion to destabilize our commodity markets) Thanks to Indian administration treating us as entities of no consequence (not like an entity they profit $50 Billion from every year).

Then they turn around, bribe our Hindu food minister to lower Bangladeshi tariff and make money off of hundreds of thousands of tonnes of Indian rice exports to Bangladesh. Faida uthana will never stop.

Should we trust trading with them going forward? Or give them Hilsa as a reward?

What do you Bangladeshi guys think?

This is not how you treat a preferred trading partner, neighbor or Mittron (friend) as Indians like to verbalize so much. Too many lies and betrayals.

Did they ever get Hisla's on their own rivers before? It is a big deal for WB folks. what's the story?

Plus this 'Anandabazaar' newspaper is the one who claimed we were taking 'Khoirati' from China. What a bunch of losers.

They are projecting their cheap kanjoosi mentality onto us. We never acted like them. It's not a zero-sum game like they always think it is.

In fact they are the kanjoos folks who depend on us. Kolkata and entire WB would be nowhere if we stopped trading goods through Kolkata, sending our people for medical tourism there. Look at situation right now, majority of the clinics and hotels in Kolkata has shut down....economy in the pits.

They do have Hilsa in their river near Kolkata (as well as in other Indian rivers in TN and AP) but the taste is not good. Taste of Padma Hilsa is the best...

Cheap people never send anything to us, but they expect a king's ransom in return. Always asking for free handouts from Bangladesh they can never afford.

Their micro-mini heart would explode if they had to give us anything for free...

I need to ask the BD folks here - why do you try to copy the kolkata dialect while talking on TV? Why not use your own dialect whatever is popular in your place? At least I noticed a few/many times.

Hahahaha... Who copies Kolkata broken Bangla dialect ?

Prochondo, Prochondo 🤭😂😂

If anyone does, shame on them..

Very close with a WB family from Malda.. great people but I cringe whenever they speak Bangla, so I always steer our conversations into Hindi.

Any other country without the deficiency of its people's IQ would have vaccinated 0.85 million people 1st dose so that they can be given the 2nd vaccination. However, our low-breed Health Minister expended all the vaccines on the 1st dose and now blaming India that itself is in trouble with Lakhs of new cases almost every day.

Our Health Minister and his bureaucratic colleagues should better re-attend Primary Schools to learn simple maths. Bloody idiot peasant-bred minister with a feeble mind!!!

If China, he would have been sent to the firing squad.

I thought about the same but then disregarded. See, here's the thing, the duration between 2 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine is 12 weeks or 84 days. How do you expect someone to save 1.7 million doses for 3 months when you have already paid in advance for 30 million doses and got only 10(7+3) million doses? 5 million doses were supposed to be delivered per month for 6 months. Probably the plan was to get 15 million doses in first three months and use it as 1st dose and then begin 2nd dose phase from 4th month but it got halted due to India's export ban.

Are you even aware what a Kolkata dialect is? Are you a native Bangla speaker? If you're not (or even if you are) don't try to confuse the issue.

There is 'standard' spoken literary Bangladeshi Bangla "Shuddho Bhasha" (which we speak in Bangladesh, not regional dialects) - and then there is Kolkata dialect, which is different from standard Bangla.

Regarding TV, Bangladesh started with color TV broadcast almost all day during the early seventies after 1971, when Kolkata did not even have TV. Much later - Kolkata Doordarshan was allowed to broadcast third rate black and white programs, and that too for maybe two hours a day.

How can they? Kolkata and WB's per capita GDP is half that of Bangladesh.

Get that? Half.

Some of us growing up even way later - took for granted the American serials, dramas and comedies on TV - same as those on US market Television. Kolkatan people had no such luck.

Don't compare Kolkata language and culture to our own. In Kolkata, Bangla is dead. We in Bangladesh still proudly carry on that legacy. We fought for it, spilled our blood for our language.

What have Kolkata people done? How many drops of blood have they spilled?

Even today, programs broadcast from Kolkata (compared to ours in Bangladesh) have low production values, set design and hilarious low quality broadcasts which are the butt of jokes in Bangladesh. Things will only get worse for Kolkata because it is a provincial capital over-run by non-Bengalis (BIMARU cow belters mostly).

Young people in Kolkata won't even speak Bangla for very much longer, they all speak Hindi or English. This is what happens to a people who don't value their independence, sovereignty and self-determination and learn to appease cow-belter non-Bengalis 24/7.

Down from the soap-box now...

Oh come on, read it. You shouldn't blame the law and order of Bangladesh too , because minister's mobile is snatched. Minister himself defended his govt by this joke!

And these clowns are our policy makers!

Why don't understand that we are stronger than Covid-19 because,( Obaidul Quader) and where Hasina is prime minister, Covid-19 can't defeat us?

So they didn't feel that .85 millions will be vaccinated instead of 1.7 millions!

And these are the reasons they didn't even look beyond Indian vaccine!

If China, he would have been sent to the firing squad.
We aren't China but we are like Los Angeles, Singapore and London (recent comparison of mobile snatching case) , you have to keep it in mind!:undecided:
