Delhi gang-rape accused Vinay Sharma attacked in jail, critical: Lawyer

New Delhi: The lawyer of Vinay Sharma, an accused in the December 16 Delhi gang-rape case, claimed on Wednesday that his client is critical after being attacked in the Tihar Jail.

The claim came weeks after prime accused Ram Singh was found hanging in the same prison.

Lawyer AP Singh told an international news agency that Vinay Sharma was admitted to the government-run Lok Nayak Hospital in the capital with chest injuries. Singh further claimed that Sharma's food had been poisoned.


According to the lawyer, Sharma was vomiting blood and had a very high fever. The vomiting was due to the slow poisoning of Sharma's food, the lawyer added.

Authorities at Tihar Jail have so far not reacted on the claims.

Main accused and driver of the bus in which the gang-rape took place, Ram Singh, was found hanging in his cell under mysterious circumstances in March. While post-mortem report established that Ram Singh had committed suicide, his lawyers claimed he was murdered.

Apart from Ram Singh and Vinay Sharma, there are four more accused in the case, one of them a juvenile.

The 23-year-old gang-rape victim had died in a Singapore hospital 13 days after the horrific incident.

This is not a good sign for India because jail is also a very safe place and if such types of attacks happen their. It's responsibility of Indian government to protect their all civilian either gentleman or criminal and just tell me if they can protect in jail then how can prove Delhi Police are very smart.

that opinion will be a biased opinion, I wont listen to it.
