Delhi: According to a survey conducted by CNNGo, New Delhi has been found to be one of the most hated cities in the world.
"Travel scams happen everywhere. But few cities fuel as much lengthy discussion and strategising about them as India's sprawling capital," said the article on CNNGo website.
Surprisingly, it is not just the crime-riddled cities which have been ranked the most hated cities in the world, but even cities like Paris, Sydney, Melbourne feature in the top chart.
Blaming it on the touts and travel scams in New Delhi, tourists have ranked New Delhi as the eighth most hated city in the world.
The top slot has been grabbed by Tijuana in Mexico. “The point is that while there are even dicier border towns, cheesier drinking holes, wearier haggling magnets and gloomier border crossings (sorry, folks, drug-screenings take time) than Tijuana, it’s hard to find an undiscriminating tourism hub that’s taken a bigger hit in the public eye lately,” said the article on CNNGo website.
According to a recent Worldfocus report, Tijuana’s annual tourism numbers have plummeted by as much as 90 per cent in less than 10 years, and other research estimates that visitor-related revenue has declined by almost as much over a similar period.
The second and third have been taken by Sydney and Melbourne in Australia and Paris in France.
