Dr Hugoun Lee, President Defence Agency for Technology and Quality, Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pakistan on "Mutual Acceptance of Government Quality Assurance of Defence Material and Services." This will open new vistas of quality assurance for procurement of products, joint ventures and exchange of products.
Pakistan wants Korea to visit the defence industries of POF, HIT and PAC Kamra, so that the quality and standards met at the industrial facilities are judged and gauged for future collaboration in defence production.
Korea is currently engaged for sale of its products to many countries in the region and it will be of significance if the Korean friends stationed in Pakistan utilise the defence industrial set up for future ventures. What is noteworthy is the interest of both Korea and Pakistan in building the new shipyard at Gwadar.
On the occasion of historical signing of the MoU, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Defence Production said, "We consider Korea the reliable friend and partner. It is our desire to increase meaningful co-operation as Korea has world class facilities, technology and above all quality standards". He said that after the signing of the MoU Korea will help Pakistan to elevate the defence industry on the Korean standards of quality assurance. This will give boost to our defence industry to further meet quality standards of international market."
Lieutenant General Tanvir Tahir (Retd), Secretary Defence Production termed this a milestone in defence production as this allows further access of our indigenous defence products to International Markets and buyers.
"We hope that the interest of foreign buyers will further increase after this historical signing," he said.
Korean T-50 aircraft is state of the art quality aircraft and its design and features were greatly lauded by Minister for Defence Production. "Pakistan is examining the aircraft and assessing our needs and requirements accordingly," he added.
The delegation will visit Pakistan Ordnance Factory Wah, Heavy Industries Taxila and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra during their stay here in Pakistan.-PR
