EFIS40 by Honeywell and Samtel
The Electronic Flight Instrument System, EFIS40, with a 4"x4" screen is a compact, high-performance system developed specifically for aircraft accommodating 4-inch instruments. Being developed by Honeywell and Samtel, the product is designed with analog and digital interfaces, and shows bright, clear displays in easy-to-read, easy-to-understand formats. It also includes an advanced self-test capability. The product conforms to Environmental test conditions, including temperature variations from 40°C to +85°C, maximum altitude of 55,000 ft., and high resolution. The product is also ruggedized for vibration, shock and crash safety.
The Multi-Functional display (MFD)
It is a device that paints a composite view of the aircraft's environment, providing the pilot with all necessary information to make safe decisions during every phase of flight.
◦MFD55 - the 5"x5" screen MFD developed by Samtel under the aegis of DRDO, and manufactured by the Samtel HAL JV has been certified for airworthiness and is flying currently on Sukhoi 30 MKIs. Automated Test Equipments (ATEs):
Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is an automated device that is used to quickly test and validate the performance of an electronic module or an Avionic LRU (Line replaceable unit). The System level Test Bench on display at the booth is used to evaluate performance of the MFD by performing a suite of tests as defined in the Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) of the MFD.

During the show, BDS executives will invite stakeholders into an F/A-18IN Super Hornet cockpit simulator to demonstrate the aircraft's advanced features, including its superior air-to-ground and air-to-air capabilities. Boeing also will provide media briefings on the C-17 Globemaster III and on two Boeing Rotorcraft products in current competitions -- the CH-47F Chinook and AH-64D Apache. An Airborne Battle Management briefing will cover Airborne Early Warning and Control as well as the P-8I long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft. India selected the P-8I for its navy last year; the first of eight aircraft is scheduled to enter the fleet in 2013.

From 15 to 18 February, Finmeccanica takes part – through its companies AgustaWestland, Alenia Aeronautica, DRS Technologies, SELEX Communications, SELEX Galileo, Oto Melara and WASS – in DEFEXPO 2010, presenting products, platforms and technological solutions in the field of helicopters, aeronautic, communications and radar systems, naval and land armaments and underwater systems.
Finmeccanica’s presence in India goes back more than 40 years: over the years it has been developing solid industrial partnership in the defence and security sectors thanks to partnerships in several successful programmes. For Finmeccanica, India is a partner and country of strategic importance with a large and sustainable defence market growth rate and volume that offers significant opportunities in all business sectors.
Finmeccanica is present in India through its liaison office, which is responsible for monitoring the developing need of India in the defence and security sectors. Finmeccanica and the Group companies aim to strengthen their presence in India, and above all, create new and consolidate existing industrial partnerships with key local companies to respond to the country’s challenges and global ambitions – not only in these areas but also in other sectors in which the Group operates (e.g. space, transport and energy). In the helicopter sector, AgustaWestland has been present in India since 1970. Today the Indian Navy operates a fleet of AgustaWestland Sea King helicopters and a growing number of AgustaWestland commercial helicopters are now performing corporate, VIP and offshore transport missions in India. The commercial helicopters market in India is expanding rapidly and a large military helicopter acquisition programme is underway. AgustaWestland has strong interests in the country both in terms of potential developments in the civil market and the tender under way to supply VVIP helicopters to the armed forces. In February 2009, AgustaWestland signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian group Tata Sons to create a joint venture for the development of a final assembly line for the AW119 helicopter in India. AgustaWestland has a complete range of military helicopters that can meet the Indian Ministry of Defence’s helicopter requirements. These requirements include 197 reconnaissance and surveillance helicopters for the Air Force and Army, helicopters for the Coast Guard, multi-role naval helicopters for the Navy and light combat helicopters for the Air Force. In addition AgustaWestland is ideally placed to participate in the mid-life upgrade of the fleet of Sea King helicopters used by the Indian Navy.
The aeronautics sector also offers good prospects for Alenia Aeronautica that is currently keeping a close eye on the requirements expressed by the Indian Air Force and the Border Security Force for a tactical transport aircraft. The C-27J, made by Alenia Aeronautica, best seller of its category, is capable of performing many missions such as transport of troops, goods and medicines, MEDEVAC, airdrop operations, paratroopers’ launches, search and rescue (SAR), logistical re-supply, humanitarian assistance, fire fighting and missions in support of homeland security. A model of the C-27J will be on display at the Finmeccanica stand. Alenia Aeronautica has also a strong interest in the requirements expressed by the Indian Navy for a new medium-range aircraft for maritime patrol, for which the company proposes the ATR72 MP. Alenia Aeronautica has achieved a notable success with the regional aircraft made by ATR (equal joint venture between Alenia Aeronautica and EADS): around 100 of these aircraft are in service with the major national airlines of the region. Alenia Aeronautica participates, through the Eurofighter consortium, in the MMRCA (Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft) programme for the supply of 126 combat aircraft to the Indian Air Force in which the Eurofighter
Typhoon is competing, with EADS Germany leading the campaign.
SELEX Communications has a presence going back 20 years in India, where it supplies avionic, tactical and naval communications systems, either directly or in collaboration with leading local companies HAL and BEL. In the near future, SELEX Communications, could provide its expertise in protected military communication systems and next-generation systems. India's Defexpo 2010 To Attract 650 Companies
NEW DELHI - The United States, represented by 25 companies, will be the biggest exhibitor at Defexpo 2010, the biannual exhibition of Land and Naval systems to be held here Feb. 15-18.
Israel, which has emerged as a leading supplier of weaponry and equipment to the Indian defense forces since 1999, will occupy the largest exhibit space at 1,248 square meters.
Defexpo 2010 is the 6th Land and Naval Defence Systems exhibition organized by the Indian Defence Ministry, and will cover nearly twice the exhibit space - 30,100 square meters - compared with the 17,200 square meters in the 2008 show.
About 650 defense companies from 35 countries will display weapons and equipment, hoping to make sales to an Indian military expected to spend about $100 billion during the next 15 years.
"India is aiming at better partnerships between foreign defense original equipment manufacturers and domestic state-owned and private companies to increase the manufacturing and system integration of both land and naval systems during Defexpo 2010," said Raj Kumar Singh, India's permanent defense production secretary.
Singh claimed that the four-day event will be the largest defense exposition in Asia and will showcase India's emergence as an attractive investment destination for the defense sector and promote industry alliances and joint ventures.
India imports nearly 70 percent of its weapons and equipment. Forty percent of its annual budget of about $30 billion goes for new procurement, while the larger share goes toward paying salaries and pensions of the 1.2 million defense force.
Indian defense planners are drafting a plan to prepare the military for conflict with Pakistan and China that could increase defense spending by 20 percent, said a senior Indian Defence Ministry official.
Planned Army equipment purchases include 155mm guns on a fast-track basis, air defense systems and a variety of helicopters, the senior Indian Defence Ministry official said.
The Air Force is likely to finalize the $10 billion purchase of 126 fighter jets under the medium-range multirole combat aircraft program.
The Navy will put into orbit a dedicated military satellite in 2010, and enter the global market for the purchase of six more submarines worth $5 billion.
India's most ambitious homegrown aircraft program, the Light Combat Aircraft, awaits a final decision on which engine will power it. The choice is between General Electric's GE 414 and Eurojet's EJ 2000.

Israel, which has emerged as a leading supplier of weaponry and equipment to the Indian defense forces since 1999, will occupy the largest exhibit space at 1,248 square meters.
Defexpo 2010 is the 6th Land and Naval Defence Systems exhibition organized by the Indian Defence Ministry, and will cover nearly twice the exhibit space - 30,100 square meters - compared with the 17,200 square meters in the 2008 show.
About 650 defense companies from 35 countries will display weapons and equipment, hoping to make sales to an Indian military expected to spend about $100 billion during the next 15 years.
"India is aiming at better partnerships between foreign defense original equipment manufacturers and domestic state-owned and private companies to increase the manufacturing and system integration of both land and naval systems during Defexpo 2010," said Raj Kumar Singh, India's permanent defense production secretary.
Singh claimed that the four-day event will be the largest defense exposition in Asia and will showcase India's emergence as an attractive investment destination for the defense sector and promote industry alliances and joint ventures.
India imports nearly 70 percent of its weapons and equipment. Forty percent of its annual budget of about $30 billion goes for new procurement, while the larger share goes toward paying salaries and pensions of the 1.2 million defense force.
Indian defense planners are drafting a plan to prepare the military for conflict with Pakistan and China that could increase defense spending by 20 percent, said a senior Indian Defence Ministry official.
Planned Army equipment purchases include 155mm guns on a fast-track basis, air defense systems and a variety of helicopters, the senior Indian Defence Ministry official said.
The Air Force is likely to finalize the $10 billion purchase of 126 fighter jets under the medium-range multirole combat aircraft program.
The Navy will put into orbit a dedicated military satellite in 2010, and enter the global market for the purchase of six more submarines worth $5 billion.
India's most ambitious homegrown aircraft program, the Light Combat Aircraft, awaits a final decision on which engine will power it. The choice is between General Electric's GE 414 and Eurojet's EJ 2000.
