Deep penetrator bomb

You don't need to penetrate a bunker to render it useless. All bunkers have air shafts and entrances. Hit them and they become tombs.:usflag:

If Iraq could endure Iranian pressure tactics, US can do lot better. Iran and Iraq inflicted heavy casualties to each other because they gave each other the opportunities to do so. They used WW-I tactics, which will not work against a modern military machine like that of US.

Also, here is what a 4000 lb EPW can do:

The 4000 lb GBU-28 was created from a very heavy surplus Army eight-inch gun tube filled with conventional explosive and a modified laser guidance kit. It destroyed the bunker, which was protected by more than 30 feet of earth, concrete and hardened steel.

MOP can surely do lot better. I would not take media based speculations too seriously, since American officials have hinted that they are improving MOP; they may already have done so.

Also, some people do not know that US have developed EPW which can even destroy even an ICBM Silo.

I think you already know I respect your knowledge on all matters US. I am not doubting US prowess and the American ability to flatten Iran with conventional weapons. However although I agree with the you on the facts but i diverge on how these would play out in a real conflict in the Persian Gulf.

Whatever Iran has by way of indigenous or Russian technology would end up being scrap metal after a few USAF sorties. You hoever mentioned the WW1 tactics by Iraq-Iran in the 1980s. This statement is only half true. Iraq was blessed with massive supply of Russian weapons with some additional inputs by France etc.

The Gulf Arabs [the same ones who talk off cutting the head of the snake] also provided significant financial support to Iraq - Which would later lead to invasion of Kuwait. So Iraq was not short of modern weapons or financing. Iran on the other hand could not source any weapons from Russia. It had hard plenty of American hardware but US sanctions had crippled various US supplied platforms.

So against the might of Iraq military fully supplied with up to date Russian hardware Iran could only through one thing it had in plenty - millions of men willing to fight. That it did so on the iranian side it looked like a repeat of WW1. Just blood and guts is what stoppded Saddam Hussain. The iranian fighting spirit, unity and resolve were proven without a doubt.

Against the US Iran again would be flattened and millions of charging RG would be wiped out and this would go on until Iranians ran out of manpower. However Iran is not in middle of the Sahara Desert. It is next to the world's oil supply route. Millions of crazed Iranians would pose a danger to the fre flow of oil - millions might die but I am 100% sure they would hinder the flow of oil.

The effect of that on oil prices would be devastating. don't forget the Iranian's export quite bit of oil. The potential effect of having 70 milion Iranians going crazy right next to the oil route would send oil prices out of the roof.

This factor alone would dissuade any US administration from undertaking any action against Iran.

Against dolphins there is a very good and fail proof defence and its filling the persisn gulf with sonar parasitis ,the sandy and shallow environment do the rest of the works , it made those dolphins mad

Thats a very good suggestion unfortunatly i could not find anything on sonar parasitis can u educate us on this?

This link is a good read for Underwater warfare including new mine detection techniques.

Important bunkers are self-sufficient for months if not more :)

What concerns nuclear installations deep under the ground - Iran would dig up destroyed entrances, etc. and would continue, centrifuges would be intact. Hence such bombing wouldnt stall Iranians for more than... few weeks? Few months? And all this war for that?

Well by sonar parasitis , I meant fake sonars . Dolhin like batd depend on a sonar to find their targets , if you put several sound emitters in different frequency under water it made dolphins loose their abilities it would be like some sort of eldcticwarvare to blind enemy radars, worse than that shallow sandy waters made the sounds reflect tens of time in diffefent directions now multiplay it with tens of emitters that produce such noises and as a result the poor dopnins will go mad ,it would be like a radar that is lighten up with thousends of fake signals it practically become junk.

Its said example of such phenomen in smaller extent is what causes dolphin and whals do mass suicide

A thermobaric bomb has nothing do do with a MOP. The former is a FAE (Fuel Air Explosive) that is not designed to penetrate but ignite a cloud of fuel/explosive material overground. The explosive cloud causes massive blast and overpressure including a fire storm that spreads almost instantaneously over a large area, scorching troops out in the open.

The blast and overpressure demolishes buildings and other structures within the danger zone. The resultant fire storm would start multiple fires way beyond the danger zones. Worse still, this bomb sucks out all the oxygen in the vicinity creating a vacuum. This is a deadly weapon especially for exposed troops.

Cheers!

And Iran got it along with other secret highly powerful explosives.
Iran also has the best and latest technology of its own in reinforced Concrete, thus forcing the US to build bigger and more powerful penetrating bombs, probably to no avail, since Iran will yet apply some more advanced technology for its bankers, with more redundancy in their systems.
I really think that Iran has won this cat and mouse game, since the US backed off -militarily speaking- and is concentrating more on economic warfare, which is another game that the US will have to give up too, since it will hurt itself and many of its friends who might start looking at their own interests and thus this game will create animosities between them.

Its good counter measure but only 4 the dolphins, wat u say for use of Passive Acoustics in ASW......

The B611 can't be used since you can't use nukes to stop the possibility of the production of a nuke.

remember the phrase "All options are on the table" I dont know where that table is.;)

dude rethink open ur eyes there is the fourth AC in the gulf the troops are only massing up......?

Mines don't have any acoustics to be detected by passive acoustics , and if you fill underwater with gibberish noises its not beautiful for any sort of sonars no matter if they belong to you or your enemies

I like the strategies Iran is using to counter these threats other countries can learn on this.
but i feel Iran is vulnerable to aerial and underwater attacks.

the static submarines are a great threat but they can be countered,
There is no general approach for submarine hunting in littorals, and all sonar systems have their advantages and disadvantages. But as the submarine threat shifts from the open ocean to the shallows and from active, moving submarines to stationary ones, ASW tactics will take these challenges into account.

good measure but i think they will eventually be spotted out.

like what iran is doing.

It's not the matter of the reinforced concrete as much as it is that Iranian nuclear facilities were built inside thick rocky mountains. Americans are known of using unproportional force against their enemies and over exaggerate using it. They used depleted uranium projectiles against Iraqi 60s tanks such as T-55 and T-62. Witnesses said 40 ton tanks flew 50 m away after they got hit by those weapons.

Of course the reinforced concrete matters here.Iran makes toughest and hardest concrete in the world.U.S hasn't developed any weapon that can penetrate these concretes more than 20 or 30 meters, while the Fordo enriching facility has 90 meters of concrete.

I don't really get it, depleted uranium is very dense, almost 1.7 times denser than than lead, hence it could penetrate into the armor well, but it's not like it has a miraculous power or could explode anything. So the claim that they were flew 50 meters away doesn't make sense, at least not for the use of DU. Maybe the explosives in the warhead had something in it, but DU doesn't do that for sure, it just penetrates well into thick protections and armors. Correct me if I'm wrong.
