why not? is it because you dont agree with views of ms roy.. ? can you not separate her belief from events that are historically accurate, especially if she can trace them to documents and speeches.

Taking a speech out of context is equivalent of twisting the truth or even lying. For example, here:
As proof, she read out a text from ‘Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi’, in which the Father of the Nation speaks about the Indian bonded labourers like this: “Whether they are Hindus or Mohammedans, they are absolutely without any moral or religious instruction worthy of the name. They have not learned enough to educate themselves without any outside help. Placed thus, they are apt to yield to the slightest temptation to tell a lie.”
Gandhi Looked Down upon Dalits, Says Arundhati Roy -The New Indian Express

Where is the context? Why did Gandhi had to say so?

Whether they are Hindus or Mahommedans, they are absolutely without any moral or religious instruction worthy of the name. They have not learned enough to educate themselves without any outside help. Placed thus, they are apt to yield to the slightest temptation to tell a lie. After some time, lying with them becomes a habit and a disease. They would lie without any reason, without any prospect of bettering themselves materially, indeed, without knowing what they are doing. They reach a stage in life when their moral faculties have completely collapsed owing to neglect.

The Indian indentured labourers whose “moral faculties” were in such a state of collapse were largely from the subordinated castes and lived and worked in conditions of virtual slavery, incarcerated on sugar cane farms. They were flogged, starved, imprisoned, often sexually abused, and died in great numbers

He is saying that the conditions they are kept in are responsible for there moral collapse. That they are not inherently evil, but their environment is making them morally corrupt. Roy is just spinning the truth.

Gandhi wasn't a God. He made mistakes, human mistakes. But he attempted to correct them. Claiming he looked down upon dalits, with whom he spent long time working and actually uplifting, is downright stupid.

Thanks buddy hot the expose. The intellectual dishonesty of roy and her ilk is rather skin-crawling. She is truly a female dog.

Because she uses the documents partially while hiding the relevents parts on any subject. I will not fall for such tacktics. There is a saying a lier drags people using deception in her/his choice place then beats them using the shear exerience of lying. Thank you.

Whenever she opened her mouth you can expect maximum idiotic words from here.
India still dont forget her comment about Nirbhaya.
I am wondering who the hell give her that Pulitzer price?
She won a Booker Prize for 'God of Small Things',which is a good book, and not Pulitzer prize.

Gandhiji is dead, and what difference will these allegations, whether true or not, are gonna make? Gandhi is a national icon, someone whom the common people can look up to,if we prove that he was a homo and racist, what good are we gonna gain?
